This track was sent to me by Yannick Pozo Vento, aka Réelle, who was a dear friend of mine and who unfortunately passed away in 2018. I always kept it as a treasure. This track means the world to me and I believe Yannick once said that this is their favourite piece they have ever produced. It was up on their SoundCloud once but disappeared very quickly. I never knew what I wanted to do with it. I still don't know. It felt like alot of pressure, but I now decided to upload it here because I think it needs to be out there for people to listen. I hope you will treat it with respect. 

Lilith is a figure and symbol of feminism and femme sexual liberation. However, in medieval Europe, she was often portrayed as the wife, concubine, or grandmother of Satan. She is best known as the first wife of Adam, who she demanded equality with and, failing to get it, left in anger. The numerical value of Lilith’s name equals the Hebrew word for “screech.” Thus, Lilith is the “Demon of screeching” and “the princess of screeching” and is personified as a screech owl. Astrologically speaking, she represents the power and desire that's hidden within us like our deep arousals, instincts, and dark (sometimes uncomfortable) truths.

I always considered this one Réelle's masterpiece. It's very different from their other releases and works with their signature graphic synthesized, theremin like sound, that weeps alongside a pizzicato cello - creating a serious atmosphere of strength and glory accompanied by a notion that for me just sounds and feels like pride in both a femme appearance and experience. Like a femme figure with 10 inch heels walking up a huge spiral staircase out of glas, leaving behind and looking down on what only could be described as patriarchy.

No episódio de hoje, McKenzie Wark, autora de "Raving", se junta à produtora Clea, do Brooklyn, em um mix de techno trans no contexto do underground queer nova-iorquino.

A mix começa com McKenzie lendo seu livro "Love and Money, Sex and Death", como se fosse uma oração à deusa Cybele, que era venerada na época romana pelos Galli, antigos ancestrais das mulheres trans e travestis. Em seguida, as seleções sonoras te levam através dos clubes (legalizados) e da cena rave (ilegal) do Brooklyn hoje.

O filme delirante de Francis Ford Coppola, "Megalopolis", propõe imaginar como os ricos e poderosos vivem na cidade dupla fictícia de Manhattan, que ele chama de "Nova Roma". Neste episódio, McKenzie e Clea estão mostrando como a festa seria nos cantos escondidos desta cidade fantasmagórica, longe de seu centro brilhante. 

Esperamos que este episódio te faça dançar como se você estivesse às 3:00 da manhã no meio da Fabriketa. Os seus sentidos estão mais aguçados. As luzes e cores são mais vibrantes, os movimentos mais suaves e o suor mais livre.

Parafraseando uma das minhas partes favoritas de "Raving", livro de McKenzie: esperamos que esta mix se torne uma prática colaborativa que te ajude a enfrentar o dia e a semana com energia. Aqui, a rave se apresenta como um vício, ritual, performance, catarse, sublimidade, uma expressão de graça e resistência.

In today's episode, McKenzie Wark, author of "Raving", joins Brooklyn-based producer Clea for a mix of trans techno within the context of New York City's queer underground.  

The mix begins with McKenzie reading from her book "Love and Money, Sex and Death", as if it were a prayer to the goddess Cybele, who was worshiped in Roman times by the Galli, ancient ancestors of trans women and travesti. From there, the sonic selections take you through Brooklyn's (legal) clubs and (illegal) rave scene today.  

Francis Ford Coppola's delirious film "Megalopolis" imagines how the rich and powerful live in the fictional twin city of Manhattan, which he calls "New Rome." In this episode, McKenzie and Clea show what the party might look like in the hidden corners of this ghostly city, far from its dazzling center.  

We hope this episode makes you dance as if it's 3:00 a.m. Your senses are heightened. The lights and colors are more vibrant, the movements smoother, and the sweat freer.  

To paraphrase one of my favorite parts of McKenzie's book "Raving": we hope this mix becomes a collaborative practice that helps you face the day and week with energy. Here, the rave emerges as an addiction, ritual, performance, catharsis, sublimity — a practice of grace and resistance.
