Ok, @diogosvp is not exactly a new face on the scene… But since we are getting new stuff from him coming out soon, it made sense to post! As you may know Diogo is the Label Manager and A&R of both Discos Extendes and Extended Records and has a new record coming out very soon... On his DJ sets it is pretty evident that the UK culture had a huge impact on him and it is not hard to find stuff such as breaks, bass, uk funky, UKG and so on. 

This particular one was recorded onde day before Christmas Eve, at @outracena, while warming up the dance floor por Piezo, the Italian artist who has already release some material on iconic labels such as Idle Hands, Wisdom Teeth, Nervous Horizon, or is own Ansia. You can find a lot of those UK sounds in this mix, together with some tunes from some of his favorite labels such as Pressure Dome, Of Paradise, T E R R O R, Homemade Sound System, Hooversound Recordings, Timedance or Swamp 81, plus one little twist of a Brazilian funk version of Jingle Bells, turned into UKG by Frazer Ray. We are already midway across September and silly season is finally over! So now is the time to reveal our next guest on our Extendes Mix series… BLEID (@bleidxyz)

BLEID, is Mariana Freitas, DJ and producer, and one of the faces of the new generation of Portuguese club music. Together with Bruno Gonçalves and Inês Coutinho, they share part of the management and artistic direction of the cultural association “Planeta Manas”, the community radio “Rádio Quântica” and the queer rave “mina”. They have recently released the massive EP “Subliminar”on the label and you can find it on our Bandcamp page! 

In this set, recorded live at @arvi_hdd rave hold at @outracena_lisboa, they present us a full throtle mix around 160BPMS ranging from 4/4 rave madness, to some juke and footwork, combined with some original productions, breaks and even with some unexpected reggaeton breakdowns! A mix that good that proves that their recognition as one of the most prolific artist in the country, and certainly one to keep watching in the future, was never a misjudgement. Extendes Mix 09 - BLEID @ ARVI

It’s high summer time and for the new episode of our Extendes Mix we have a super hot return to the booths… Our guest of honour, DJ Nevoeiro (@djnevoeiro)!

DJ Nevoeiro (instagram.com/nevoeiro3000) is know for his musical collage of different genres of dance music, mashing up pop bangers, baile funk or even popular Portuguese music. We can describe him as an expert creator of cavernous environments where the penetrating high notes of pop divas become winged thoughts, and get combined with inflammatory rhythms from both hemispheres. Calling himself “chulona” apotheosis, he comes straight from cyberspace to your spinal cord”

For his mix, he presents us with a selection taken from the guts of the rave’s fifth empire. On it, a section of breaks echoing themes that make us levitate with nostalgia, gets mixed at full speed with footwork, global bass, some of old-timey funk “montagem”, among other sounds to straighten up your spine!

From a being in constant reflection and evolution emerges Dawn Dani, the alias of Daniela. From a young age, she honed her ear by jumping from dance floor to dance floor, and it is on these foundations that she now takes her first steps on the storytelling side. Her focus is on recreating the sensations she has always sought to experience through music and offering them to those who need them.

PREMIERE: Leese — Astrakka feat. RAVL [Discos Extendes]

We met @l-eese at Listen Festival in Brussels. We were already playing her tunes on @yukumusic for some time, but it was her Live show that really throw us off our seats. We went to giver props after the show and our vibes just clicked. “—Hey, we saw your gig, and it was amazing! We danced our legs of!”, we said. “—Yeah! I saw you!”, she said with a smile. That’s all it takes.

Leese is a Brussels-based producer and DJ who’s been getting buzz for her sound - rooted in Bass Music and pulling percussive influences from breakbeat and tribal.

“Aasma” draws from Drum & Bass, fast Electro and Deconstructed Club. 3 intense tracks of fast broken beats with vocal samples and sprinkles of melody “Aziza” starts with a jackhammer-like rhythm over a half- step beat, before a wailing siren and sprinkles of Baile Funk vocals take over. “Sarma” has a more subdued and hypnotic feel that builds into a rush of trance-y synths. On “Astrakka”, Leese collaborates with @ravlsncld to produce a 145 BPM banger, with heavy rolling kicks and metallic percussion.

“This EP feels a little special. Slowly but surely, I’m finding my way back to more melodic, more “musical” vibes, and that’s the spirit that shaped this project. It also marks my second collaboration with my friend RAVL—a creative connection that keeps evolving and surprising me.”

PREMIERE: Diogo — João Botelho (O Melhor Bailarino do Mundo) [Extended Records]

After a foray into Bass Music under the pseudonym Dun Dun, the captain of Extended Records returns to the breaks and this time with his foot on the throttle! “Paranóico” is an EP composed of two Jungle- influenced tracks, deeply imbued with the spirit of rave. Booming 808s, acid lines, edgy breaks, rave stabs… and vocals from an anonymous Kuduro MC! An explosive mix always around 160BPMs!

“Bateu Bué” insists on a 4/4 beat and a progressive acid line that opens up as the theme develops. Meanwhile, a vocal in Portuguese announces that “Ele voa! [He flies!]” Who is he? You ask yourselves. Answer: “O mais louco do planeta! [The craziest man on the planet!]”

“João Botelho (O Melhor Bailarino do Mundo [The Best Dancer In The World])” is a song whose title pays homage to the most iconic dancer on Portuguese dance floors. Junglish madness, with vocals ripped from an also iconic Youtube video and a distorted 808 driving the adventure. “Ele é louco! [He’s crazy!]” Shouts a voice. “O melhor bailarino do mundo! [The best dancer in the world!] Names another one. Diogo must be crazy for this mad crossbreed! Now, the best dancer in the world, that one, we all already know who he is.

These tracks are joined by two remixes from two emerging talents on the Portuguese scene. Mandacaru signs a remix of “Bateu Bué” transforming it into a kind of Ambient Jungle dream, without any intention of recollecting the OST of Unreal Tournament 2004, produced with a mastery and elegance that is not abundant nowadays.

Carolina Miragaia, on the other hand, time stretches the breaks present in “João Botelho (O Melhor Bailarino do Mundo)”, extracting a jazzy and downtempo version from it… But this is only halfway through the song, since she immediately returns to the original speed of them to show us that she also knows what to do with breaks at 160BPMs. In the background, the vocals remain distant, reaching us filtered between many reverbs and delays.

Two remixes that take us back to vague memories of raves, with a kind of nostalgia for those who have never stepped foot on the dance floors where those took place. Without a doubt, two names to take into account for the future of Portuguese electronic music.

Following the release of 'Asmaa' from Leese last May, Lisbon-based record label Discos Extendes line up their next dispatch 'Paranoico' from label boss and producer Diogo...Our pick is Mandacaru‘s remix of ‘Bateu Bué‘, a weightless jungle reverie for shapeshifters adrift in zero gravity. Subaquatic echoes bleed into shimmering break patterns, while crystalline piano motifs hover like half-remembered dream fragments. The track opens with disorienting underwater echoes intertwined with a shimmering pulse of jungle workout and celestial piano chords. As it unfolds, Mandacaru unveils an intricate web of crisp percussion and vaporous vocals, gradually spiralling into a moment of hallucinatory resonance, a kind of astral jungle where physical weight dissolves.

We are back with our Extended Mix series with a new legend in the making - Maki (@makibreaks) !

Her PR text tells us that “a Maki set is energetic, broad and bass driven fun. With a constant and evolving presence of music throughout her life, many influences ended up combining in a fine taste for electronic music. Her sound is shaped by a deep curiosity for percussion, low-end weight, and genre-defying rhythms.“ TBH we never met her in person, but her amazing taste into bass music, breaks stuff and all kind of derivations on the sound system continuum made us want to connect and ask her for a mix! There’s not many people here in Portugal with an aesthetics that suits our own that well, so this request was a must! Being one of the young faces on the rise on the Portuguese scene, she has already stepped on most of major clubs and festivals. We truly believe in her taste and skills and want to promote her work as well as we can!

About this particular mix she says: “My music taste always gravitates towards percussive and heavy low end elements, which leaves room for a lot of exploration. So, for this mix I wanted to focus on new sounds I’ve been exploring in this realm, like texturised trippy breaks, batida and some dnb, but also, the ever present latin inspired 4x4 and some dubby sounds.”

Hope you guys enjoy the ride. For us Maki is one of the freshest people on the scene and we truly believe she will be able to make it! Dance floor fire on this one! 👀

Let me be VERY CLEAR, these songs - if I may call them such things - had absolutely no need for my words and voice. I needed them...

When I first heard Diogo's DUN DUN, I had the feeling that that's exactly what pop music should be sounding like right now! There was an intensity, an organized fragmentation of intentions, and a hint of a "fuck it" kind of celebration. I wanted to be part of it...

Both the lyrical content and the delivery of these words and melodies are a gathering of visions within a disturbing scenario. Imagine if you were invited to sing, while a diarrhea outbreak is happening, in real time, all around you. You will shit your own pants today. There's no escaping it... You've got a gun pointed at your face, and you are rudely demanded to sing or die. How do you find and nurture dignity in such a predicament? Pop at its finest, if you ask me...
