Track 01 - Volatile Cycle - Is What It Is [Mob Tactics Remix]

Complex and technical, but with an irresistible edge of funk aimed straight at the dancefloor, Mob Tactics established their brand of drum & bass circa 2010, and quickly caught the ear of the likes of Andy C, DJ Hype, and Chase & Status. Signed and certified by some of the biggest DJs and labels in the scene, we've got a feeling they're just getting started.
So. Ok... This one... right then, prepare yourselves. Leading off with some old school Bukum style pleasant chords Mob Tactics come hard on the switch up with some serious screw face stomper business. The longest running D&B DJ in the USA and founder of Big Riddim Recordings, Dave AK1200, has been a driving force within Drum and Bass culture in America since its inception. With his explosive sets and constant cheerleading for the D&B community, AK1200 continues to encourage and inspire new and old fans, DJ’s, and artists alike.
For the sing along crew this one's on a German language tip for AK1200's outing on his Is What It Is remix. Forging a unique version with driving hats and snappy drums that combine set a driving pace throughout. The wonky keys go alongside the heavy bass stabs to create a very special vibe in the dance.

Track 03 - Volatile Cycle - Is What It Is [Leon Switch 174 Amen Remix]

With releases on imprints such as MetalHeadz, Frequency, Freak, Monitor and Penetration to name just a few, he had recorded and remixed for some of the scenes true pioneers and then 2007 was to see his debut Album 'Lost all Faith'. 2008/9 and a change of tempo and name, pushed him into the limelight. Leon has several collaborations on the go with many artists and companies worldwide.
Landing the double outing on the remix work, Leon Switch returns to his roots on this upfront D&B banger. Building the delayed kicks and ominous intro this one lands hard, coming out the darkness with ALL the ferocious drums blazing. Weapons grade business right here.

Rido has gone from an artist who's shaped the face of the Czech Republic music scene to becoming a mainstay part of the wider drum & bass fabric. With names like Metalheadz, Blackout, Subtitles, Hospital, Viper and Circus playing host to his sounds, he's stretched his catalogue across the most important platforms, and not just those who are known for their harder sounds. Magnetude’s debut single ‘Mantis’ marked the beginning of a new chapter with the launch of Evolution Chamber. The label was set up by Task Horizon, Magnetude & Receptor to provide a creative outlet for like minded artists and since its inception in 2019 the label has grown from strength to strength. Evolution Chamber’s reputation for being independent and not sticking to any formative rules has gained a lot of attraction from artists across the full spectrum of Drum & Bass, with the labels next release being the trigger for a flurry of remixes and singles lined up in 2022 from both Magnetude & Evolution Chamber.

The eagerly anticipated and sought after single ‘Valhalla’ constitutes every inch of what Magnetude aims to represent within their compositions. And that’s not to just deliver music for the dancefloor, but it’s their cinematic and storytelling concepts blended with their intricate detail and technical production skills which when combined, creates their own unique vision that captivates and immerses the listener and takes you on a journey of endless imagination.

Their viking tale kicks off with flaring pad arrangements, marching drum lines and harmonised vocal riffs, giving the introduction a regal feel and the initial setting of the story that’s about to be told. As the intro moves into the buildup, the crushing kick-drum hits build up and drop into a sensory assault of distorted bass and unrelenting drums and percussion. The emotive signature vocal sings over the sonic palette of basses underneath that mutate and switch at will.

'Valhalla' represents a pivotal moment for both Magnetude & Evolution Chamber, and signifies the start of both the artist and labels onslaught of releases scheduled throughout the year, with both names certain to be echoed far and wide across the full Drum & Bass spectrum in 2022.

Drum & bass stalwarts Black Sun Empire are to follow up a trio of recent EPs from The Upbeats, Neonlight and Pythius with the release of ‘Until The World Ends’ - a five-track, collaborative EP with NZ duo State Of Mind. To be released on January 26th via their genre-defining Blackout imprint, it marks an exciting start to 2015.

Lead track ‘Ego’ immediately sets the tone with growling bass lines and punchy synth-stabs that underpin dark, techy atmospherics and vocal loops.

Second track ‘Until The World Ends’ proves once again both acts’ enduring versatility - kicking off with a bass-heavy dubstep tones complimented by vocal duties from State Of Mind’s fellow New Zealander PNC, before

switching to a manic, intelligently structured groove for the remainder.

‘Bad’ opens with progressive percussion and softly-worked synths that move euphorically to a pounding drum break, whilst fourth track ‘Jack Nicholson’, featuring an imitable sample of the man himself, is a bass-fuelled shockwave of a track. Final track.

‘Moonbox’ closes the EP in true Blackout fashion, with signature frenetic beats and firing drums rounding off proceedings in style.

Black Sun Empire have built a reputation for curating their own brand of dark, neurofunk-inspired drum & bass over the past 12 months and this collaboration with long term accomplices State Of Mind - whom released their latest album ‘Eat The Rich’ via the label earlier this year - feeds into the hype surrounding Blackout as the label looks ahead to 2015.

Beneath beams of vibrant light shambled a mass of flesh and bone, revenant bodies moving steadily to the sonic reverberations that emanated from the stage before them. Their number grew as they grooved to the few sounds that reached their decaying ears, with the occasional thunderous hit of low frequency energy felling some to the floor. For all that they had seen, for all the horrors that they had undergone in their transformation into their new forms, the creatures gathered under a sense of duty, a pilgrimage, a return to once joyous ground even within the cruel fate that had been bestowed upon them.

Before it all, this had been a festive place, one of exuberant joy where the troubles of the world could be forgotten amongst the masses that gathered in shared sonic experience. There amidst that crowd, one ceased to be one and instead became many, a part of a larger whole that moved in synchronicity to the music before them. Though now held under different circumstances and driven by different sounds, this same energy yet remained as an echo in the gathering creature’s memories, driving them onwards in their journey to reclaim what they once had. As more and more of their kin gathered, this memory propagated itself amongst the once weary crowd, imbuing their bodies with an energy not seen since their days within life. Driven by this energy, the gathered horde moved once again with vigor and resolve, each amplifying the other as a part of their larger whole. Unified once more by their memories of joy, the horde’s fervor let loose into a frenzied swirl. Bodies ricocheted from one another and careened through the air, as each came once again to live without care. All who were there knew joy as they felt it, hurtling through the horde that had turned into a MOSH PIT.
