About Solkist:
Solkist, a world traveling electronic ace, guarantees an energetic dance party. Considered to be a “music mixologist,” she has sounds for everyone to jam out to. With her sneaky ninja-beats, bass’d up remixes, and funky jams, Solkist weaves wildly flavorful ear candy. This female DJ has a huge stage presence and even bigger anthems that crowds and clubs get electrified by. You’re sure to enjoy the bouncing jams that Solkist delivers.  
She first fell in love with electronic music in 1995 and began her international house and trance collection. Traveling across the globe to pick up the latest and greatest live sets, Solkist soon had an incredible library of rare and treasured tunes. Her djing career took off from there playing at local Santa Cruz clubs, Monarch SF, Burning Man, Festivals across California, and clubs in Mexico. Solkist has opened for Dirtybird Resident J.Phlip, Fort Knox Five, and Tronik Youth, amongst other heavy hitters. She has written and produced deep house songs as well. Solkist’s unique flavor bridges the delicious sounds of bass imulsified melodic house, with a kickin’ 4-on-the-floor beat, and instrumental audio for an explosive full-spectral experience!

divaDanielle - The Funk in My Trunk (LIB 2012 Mixtape Contest)

After our busiest festival season ever, which had us playing Shambhala, Fozzy and Kamp Fest this was our most anticipated set of the summer. This was played at 4:30am before one of our favourite DJ's, Neighbour at the brand new Hallow Stage. 
Thanks to everyone that was there to fill the dance floor. What a way to wrap up an amazing summer.

This set was inspired by my first return visit to my roots town of Asheville, NC in 20 years. A town where you can still find a speakeasy where they roll up the rug on the dancefloor and you can dance barefoot all night to a Ragtime or Western Swing band while the bartender mixes you pipe smoke Old Fashioneds. The town that provided my musical roots, before I ever knew that electronic music existed. Here's to you, Asheville. California may have my heart, but you still have my soul.

As I upload this mix I am still at a loss for words.  On November 20, 2019 the greater Tahoe and Reno community lost one of our most treasured resources and our world will never be the same.  Zephyr touched the hearts of everyone that had the privilege of meeting him.  I process, purge and share my emotions through my music and dj sets.  You can say I wear my heart on my sleeve but instead the shirt is 2 cdj's and a mixer.  Creating this set in memory of Zephyr has been one of the most emotional experiences I have had with music in my life.  As I auditioned music I thought of spending time with him in our Camp at Burningman, watching in awe as he played his guitar while rocking out to Prince and watching him dance (better than some of my friends) to deep house when I would play live at Coffee Bar, Squaw and Guitarfish.  I thought of his parents Greg and Moni and what a devastating experience this has been for them as they take it all head on and somehow keep it together.  I thought of the Grandparents,the rest of their families as well as the amazing community coming together to support them and one another in these heartbreaking times.  I thought of all these things and cried, smiled and cried some more and it has left me emotionally drained and helped the healing process begin for me and I hope it can do the same for you.  I feel blessed to live in such a loving community and this community Love's You Zephyr.

While under quarantine, I've been asking people on social media: "What song made you happiest growing up?" Then I crate-dig for remixes of those songs and blend them all together in a behemoth mixtape-style jam session that spans multiple decades, genres and styles, all recorded live in one take. Enjoy!
