This is an very interesting poem from my late father about what he thought could be the purpose of the Fall. I recorded this song sometime in the nineties.

Vejo Adão, homem primeiro, por ignorância infecundo,
dado ao ócio o dia inteiro, e alheio às coisas do mundo.
Até que veio ao jardim a serpente que sabia,
e pela tentação pôs fim à feliz monotonia.
Não fora o ofídio arguto um disfarce de Satã,
e Adão quedara impoluto nessa felicidade vã,
a dormir e a comer pela eternidade inteira,
e olhando, quase sem ver, Eva sua companheira.
Não posso aceitar que Deus criasse tal paraíso
para acoitar dois filhos seus, pendentes de eterno siso.
Deus por certo planeou a primeira tentação,
toda a trama que levou ao pecado e à expulsão,
sem os quais a humanidade nunca teria existido,
nem a busca da verdade no universo surgido.
Aceitemos pois o mito como o processo sagrado
de gerar no infinito consciência do criado,
sem o qual a criação só por Deus testemunhada
seria um processo vão, equivalente do nada.
