This Detroit born multi-media artist has inhabited the north for two decades, studying grizzly bears and throwing bush parties within the vastness of Alaska and British Columbia, Canada. 

He has performed at international electronic music festivals like Shambhala, Basscoast, and Burning Man, yet his favorite places to play are the most unorthodox–the dark basements, abandoned barns, pop up-galleries, and far out zones of deep wilderness autonomy.

Robert's DJ sets reflect his love for underground music and culture which can be traced back to the the first time he heard Iggy Pop's "The Idiot," as a little boy in the Motor City, circa 1977. The music he plays ranges through territories of techno, cold wave, synth, house, new wave, post-punk, lo-fi, and disco, but he is also well acquainted with arcane experimental sonic realms. 

For music production, he employs the use of analog & FM synthesizers, drum machines, and field recordings taken from his wilderness journeys to create experimental dance tracks as well as ambient pieces enveloped in smokey atmospheric layers of sound. 

Robert has released music on labels such as Emerald & Doreen, The Black Lodge, Ombra INTL., Divination & Strategy, Trevor's Haus, Dead Channel, Underground Pacific, and Sons of Traders (forthcoming).

Texture & Light was created by Trevor Mervyn as a way to explore live instrumentation, synthesis, field recordings, and deep themes, while striking a balance between the dance floor and headphone day-dreaming. 

With an open mind, Trevor allows his unique brand of electronic music to lead him, not limiting the creative process to stay inside a genre or follow an exact formula. Texture & Light’s sound represents the music that Trevor was born to make, and it continues to evolve over space and time as he is carved by experience, joy, sadness, and wonder.

Texture & Light live shows use synthesizers, drum machines, samplers, loopers, voice, and guitar to bring listeners on a fuzzy, deep, slow motion journey to the stars, and deep within themselves.

Trevor’s musical releases have been charted by campus radio stations across Canada, reaching the National Earshot! Electronic chart, the Canadian iTunes Electronic chart, and topping the CBC R3-30.

Divination & Strategy is facilitated by Detroit born artist, Robert E. Livingood. His connection to fringe music and art reaches far back into the 1970s industrial context of his home city where, as a boy, he was first exposed to the radical and subterranean world of punk. As he grew up, Robert assumed his own role in the culture by promoting art and music at the 404 Willis–a collectively run show space and radical community center in the Cass Corridor. Robert eventually left Detroit and headed west into the mountains where he discovered wild nature. His experiences in the deep wild exert a tremendous influence on his worldview and the art he makes–whether through writing and DJing, as well as through this new music label, Divination & Strategy. Through this he will promote and release edgy, socially and spiritually relevant electronic music for rebellious listeners.
