Collective Wellbeing

What is originality in music anymore? It's something I've struggled with as a producer and DJ for much of the past 10 years. As a producer I've pretty much given up on sounding original, but as a DJ I've always tried to find music that sounds original or at least attempts to do so. When it comes to dance floor music I've found it nearly impossible to find music that truly has an original sound to it, but I've been finding all sorts of abstract and eclectic Electronica and random tracks here and there that to me really feel like they're doing something different or going Against The Grain if you will....

When two of the worlds best electronica/downtempo producers and DJs, Bluetech and Dj Maggie respectively asked me to create a set for their streaming show Holotropic Happy Hour I knew this was the perfect opportunity to finally put together a set of these tracks! I hope you enjoy the journey!

This is a live recording of a set I played in the forest for Tropical's  Bring Love Back to Oregon Summer Campout in June 2022.

I was filling in on late notice for a DJ who was unable to make it, so this set is 100% on the fly. 

Wiggles were in order, as the lineup was all dance music - I had a lot of fun bringing my version of wiggles to this set.

Pool parties at hotels...one surefire reminder of summertime. For the second year in a row, I was invited to open a Tropical & Friends pool party at the Custom Hotel with a set that accompanied a yoga class, before the dance masters took over the decks into the afternoon. Deep Beat Diving

This is the closing set from the Moontribe Full Moon Gathering in October 2019. It's a longer one - clocking in at 2.5 hours - and my intention was to keep the energy relatively high as we wound down from a night and day of dancing. This is a set I put together for Bluetech's former Holotropic Happy Hour live stream Twitch show in November 2020. I was in suspense, as the rest of the world was, about the nation's election results when I mixed this, and the music feels like it reflects my mixture of hopes and fears.

At Last

DJ Maggie carefully curates the best of downtempo electronic into lush, playful and deeply replenishing sets that invite listeners on shimmering audio odysseys. Whether leading flights to the depth of the heart or the outer dimensions of the cosmos, Maggie pilots music masterfully as a multi-dimensional tool—for joy enhancement, energy boosting, community building, a safe space for retreat, a salve for helping heal pain, or a focus-enhancing medium to optimize creativity or productivity.

Evolving her own brand of intuitive sound at the legendary Southern California desert gatherings of the groundbreaking Moontribe Collective and other conscious parties and festivals, Maggie soon established a reputation for her heart-expanding sonic rides. This eventually propelled her into the path of her current collaborations with esteemed downtempo artist and producer, Bluetech (Evan Bartholomew) and their labels Behind the Sky and  Over the Moon. Her first compilation, a 2xLP entitled ‘Matters of the Heart,’ was released in June 2021 on Behind The Sky, and she began releasing through Over the Moon in October 2021.
