- the liquid fix - a drum & bass mix - episode 7 - SWISHERMAN

@swisherman is a Gadigal Land/Sydney-based DJ, producer, and a mind behind DUNJ, one of his city's most revered and respected promoters. When he's not helping to platform some of Gadigal Land or the world's most forward-thinking electronic music, swisherman is contributing to that tapestry himself.

'ONSET' is his latest release, a moody, dark and spacious descent into the backrooms of any DIY space whose location has yet to be revealed. Luscious pads are met with gated ambience, while a growling step of bass bounces off the crisp snap of a snare.

Like much of his work, this is a tour through swisherman's audio-guided mind palace, paying homage to many of the people he's helped to bring to his home. It snaps, to say the least.

'ONSET' releases officially next Friday, June 6.

Been having a creative block for a long while now.. mixing hasn't been fun.. but thismix came together the night before the gig and was inspired as my creative flow was coming with ease, the 1st time in a long while and it was organic and natural.. on the night there were some technical issues and my rustiness back on the cdjs from a long break I didn't get to play the set as well as it deserved.. so here it is recorded how I would of liked to play it live.. Enjoy!!

Dj Munk, has been DJing since 1999 and a lover of music in of all styles. He is the founder of ABSF (Airbourne Sonic Fiction) Crew, back in early 2002 in Sydney was pushing the sounds of drum & bass of all forms to the Sydney masses. Originally focusing on atmospheric drum & bass, '97 jazzy styles in their Airbourne Sunday Sessions, Airbourne also ran their monthly drum & bass nights Momentum, their infamous Old Skool Jungle parties played host to Calibre & Shapeshifter (NZ) 1st parties ever in Sydney town in 2004… fast forward to now and though retired from promoting, he has not lost his passion for the music.

Though primarily known as a drum & bass / Old Skool Jungle Dj his other musical passions is downtempo / jazz, broken beat and also bass music.. influences ranging from Sam Cooke, John Coltrane, Cinematic Orchestra, Bonobo, Gilles Peterson, LTJ Bukem, Synkro & Calibre.

Whether he is playing a downtempo, old skool jungle or a bass music set it’s all about creating a musical journey with ebbs and flows creating an emotional response to the musical experience. When it comes to rocking the clubs plays the music as if he was on the dancefloor and not all just in his head… dance with the heart and not just the feet.
