One day, a terrifying demonic monster calling itself Malicemon appeared in Japan through a portal from another world. Yamashita Yuto and his little sister Kaori were suddenly attacked by this creature, and for reasons unknown to Yuto, Malicemon grabbed Kaori and sprinted off through the streets. 
 
Seeing this kidnapping, a boy named Shinjiro and a girl named Nao helped Yuto chase after Malicemon and Kaori, and when Malicemon opened a portal back to the other world, all three kids dove into the portal to chase after him. The trio soon get attacked by another monster, but are saved by a group of three young dragons calling themselves Redramon, Bludramon and Yeldramon, and they explain that they, as well as these other creatures, are known as Digimon, and Yuto and the others are now in a place called the Digital World. 
 
Upon hearing about what happened to Kaori, the three dragon Digimon agree to help Yuto and the others chase down Malicemon and rescue Kaori!
