This is my DJ edit of the Eitan Reiter (@eitanreiter) remix of Psika by Dusty Kid (@dusty-little-kid) released on Digital Structures (@digital-structures). The original was a mainstay of my sets in the late 2000s so I'm happy to have a new version to play out.

I rearranged the structure of the song, placing the middle sequence first, restored some elements of the original track released in 2007 (including that big bass-heavy breakdown), applied some effects to mask transitions, and made the lead-out a little more DJ-friendly.

Dusty Kid - Psika (Eitan Reiter Remix / DJ Basilisk Edit)

RC110 marks the return and collaboration of two label favourites, close friends and local legends – Tom Baker and Unknown Concept. A year in the making, we are proud to present you with the 2 track Ambidextrous EP, featuring the title record and the secondary, Nocturne.

When you look at the make up of any musical composition there are so many elements to consider. The instrumentation and space of your record, what specific pieces you decide to blend together, at what point they develop over the course of your arrangement and in what place across this spectrum do your elements either thrive on their own or shine all together.

Two artists being 'Ambidextrous' can be loosely translated to the concept of balance. The ability to be able to rely upon each element you piece together to speak to, relate and ultimately balance out your entire composition.

Tom Baker and Unknown Concept have drawn from their own unique styles and characteristics within their music to build a dark and ominous EP which will no doubt take you late in the night.

Nocturne is a low-slung progressive number, where you can feel the low end move you throughout the arrangement. A testament to both artists design and element selection.

The Toronto-based duo is finally back with us showcasing their minimalistic and intricate grooves. Mitch and Amir used the time to even further perfect their already outstanding detailing and added a massive pounding drive to their toolkit.

On the remixing duties, South Zone and Digital Committee deliver the goods, signing off with the renewed and revamped ‘Life Oscillations’ classic remixed by Yuli Fershtat.

Singers and choir members wear traditional Berber clothing. The songs, written by Djura, are based on poems of social inspiration, but also and above all feminist. It has been marked by a particularly violent and oppressive patriarchal family context. Djura therefore logically associated his sisters, notably Malha and Fatima, with the group, but a tragic family dispute separated them, Djura continuing to lead the group with other musicians. In her autobiographical book, Le voile du silence, published in 1987, she describes her history and that of the group until that date.

Basilisk is a veteran multi-genre DJ, co-founder of the psychedelic techno label @Techgnosis-Records alongside @benramamusic, founder of the iconic @Ektoplazm free music portal and label group (including Ektoplazm, Drumlore, and Omnitropic), lossless audio enthusiast, and dedicated archivist and electronic music curator. Originally hailing from Toronto, Canada, he is now based in Taipei, Taiwan.

Psytrance, techno, electro, house, trance, acid, breaks, bass, IDM, ambient—you name it, I probably spin it. My mixes fluidly combine different genres into harmonic journeys that defy convention. I encourage you to browse around and get lost in some of the many sonic microcosms I have meticulously curated over the years. Nearly all mixes posted here are available for download on my homepage.
