DJ Basilisk revisits the classic psytrance sound on Transmissions From Valhalla, a monumental 4+ hour journey featuring more than 60 tracks released between 1997 and 2005. This time around the focus is mainly on the many permutations of the “minimal wave” that swept through the scene in the early years of the new millennium. Expect to hear a wide variety of hypnotic atmospheres, quirky rhythms, and brutal beats as the pressure builds toward a raging full-on mind-bending climax. The return path explores the deeper and more sublime side of progressive psytrance before unraveling with shimmering breakbeats and dubbed-out electronica.

Transmissions From Valhalla [Classic Y2K-Era Minimal Psytrance / Progressive Psytrance / Techtrance]

On the Way to Ozora Festival 2022 is also FOURMI ROUZ, seeting the mood with this mix, an imaginary soundtrack for the magic carpet ride across the continents. Berlin-based jack-of-all-trades Logeshen Moorgan alias Fourmï Rouz has established a name synonymous with panchromatic groove science and genre-unbound open-mindedness. Championing a "globe-trotting, nomad music style” that knows no boundaries, Fourmï Rouz’s defies clichés and pigeonholes through extra wide-spanning, free-spirited mixes that offer bespoke moments for dancing and daydreaming - some of which were featured on the likes of Ninja Tune’s seminal Solid Steel series and various outlets such as Ransom Note and Trax Magazine. 2020 saw him open a new chapter in his career with the debut release of his duo MOISK alongside fellow Vilnius-based talent Pletnev / Ponty Mython, issued via Amsterdam-via-Brazil based imprint Frente Bolivarista / I lost my poncho in Istanbul. This maiden release was followed by Melancholic Raver EP in October 2021, and a third slab is on the way - due out August 2022 on Berlin’s Warning Records.

Founder/Radio Manager/Public Relations at Psyland Radio. Alexis aka Dj Psylex Jembalang is from Greece. Since 2008 he discovered the magic in electronic sound and psytrance music by going to festivals and partys around Greece. 

In 2013 he started booking festivals and parties. Alexis organized festivals and partys in a local area, and in 2019 he joined the Underground Experience team. 

Influenced by the psychedelic trance scene and with vision and love for this music, Alex gathered the team that could bring into life the psyland radio community project.

Champirolls is a Dark Progressive musical project created by Julien in 2015.

He discovered Psytrance music a few years ago and is quickly captivated by the  enigmatic nature of these rhythms and soundscapes.

He started to compose his firsts tracks, shortly thereafter starts learning DJing and creates various sets mixing his favorites artists and his own productions.

Since then, he plays in various locals parties and private events, refining his style, developing his skills.

After having released two EPs with Pistolero Recordings (Croatia) and tracks on various compilations, he joins ChronoZone Records (France) and released his third EP "Corporated Alien" in December 2021.

Highly influenced by the energy of Hitech music, the deep atmosphere of Forest and the powerful groove of Progressive he is always ready to break the rules and offers through his performances an intense trip in the depths of Darkprog.

In this episode, ALEX BOSHKE TOLSTEY presents 'Infinite Fadeout'. This is the first two hours from 18 hours of nonstop set played and recorded in Joshua Tree, California in May 2023. A tribute to fresh James Holden album in this particular part of the mix. There is an intimate celebration party in the high desert of Mojave, California, at the deep and beautiful nature of one of its kind place on earth – Joshua Tree National park, this is happening every year since 2012 and Alex is usually playing there his famous extended nonstop sets where he tries to present all the possible psychedelic dance music to the dancers and space travellers who are lucky to participate in this happening, sometimes those sets lasted for almost 24 hours. Alex Tolstey also known as Alex Boshke ( 1977) is an USSR born and Israel raised producer and DJ , who’s career in electronic music spans over 25 years . As an original founder of Boshke Beats Records in 2000, Alex executed more then 250 releases by today and is well known in the global trance and techno community as one of the originators of psychedelic techno movement over the globe. This set was recorded live at Re:Generate, the name chosen by the Om Reunion Project to set the mood for their summer solstice gathering in 2011. I was scheduled to play on Sunday morning at the Moon Bass stage, a great little setup in a forest clearing on a beautiful piece of land in Southern Ontario. It felt like the right space and time to take a trip into the history of the psychedelic trance subculture so I mixed up a diverse assortment of old school Goa trance classics after sunrise. As always, this set was completely improvised; absolutely nothing was planned prior to stepping on stage to ready my equipment. This musical experience was co-created with a fantastic crowd of people who emerged from the woods to dance with enthusiasm to these old school gems.

Mixing live on four decks, Basilisk skillfully blends some of the finest mid-tempo Goa trance classics of the 1990s with dub techno, deep trance, progressive house, psychedelic breakbeats. Holding steady at or around 120 beats per minute, the deep frequencies of this mix evoke the heartbeat of creation, taking the listener on a full journey through day into night and back again.

Circadian Rhythms [Midtempo Goa Trance Classics From the 1990s]

Moonshadow is a classic psytrance mix originally composed for the Global Goa Party, a virtual event conceived to “create the soundtrack for a full night (and morning) of old-school Goa trance by ten DJs from all over the world.” The rules were simple: record a mix with music that would have been heard on the dance floor in 1999. I snapped up the 12:30 to 2:00am time slot and spent weeks scouring my collection for the right stuff to hasten the journey into darkness and lunacy. Naturally, this exercise aroused great nostalgia for my own initiation into psytrance culture sometime in 1997 or 1998. Since many of my earliest memories of partying in Toronto were formed at events thrown by the Moonshadow collective I decided to dedicate this mix to DJ Dam, Cyber G, Yohimbe, John Dee, and everyone else who was there in the beginning.

Moonshadow [Dark Psytrance / Goa Trance Circa 1999]

In Exile is a special mix composed by Basilisk for Global Goa Party 2, a virtual party organized by Marsh at the Goat Ranch, a flashpoint for old school Goa trance fandom. The concept is simple enough: gather up a bunch of seasoned old school veterans and have them mix up a full night of music just as if it were some point in the not-so-distant past. The first event—for which I produced Moonshadow—landed us 1999.

This time we travel back to the year 1996, smack dab in the middle of the Golden Age of Goa trance. Bill Clinton is in the White House, Boris Yeltsin is in the Kremlin, the reigning human chess champion is defeated by a computer for the first time, and tantalizing evidence of life on other worlds captures headlines around the world. I am merely 15 years old, not yet fully initiated into the world of psychedelic trance, although the groundwork is already laid by my adolescent fascination with industrial music, cyberpunk fiction, and early dial-up BBSes. One of the aims of the Global Goa Party project is to provide an experience for those of us who did not have the good fortune to attend psytrance parties back in the day—myself included! (I first heard DJ Nivoc play Goa trance in April of 1996 but had no idea what was going on at the time.) For the 2:00am to 3:30am time slot I did my best to build from a hypnotizing introduction to a seething, storming climax, taking care to end on a high note.

Blacklight Metropolis is Basilisk’s contribution to the fifth edition of Global Goa Party, a virtual event organized by Marsh at the Goatranch to simulate an entire night of music from the early years of the psychedelic trance movement. This time around the year is 1997 and the golden age of Goa trance is in full swing, blasting revellers into limitless dimensions of sound with scintillating kaleidoscopic sounds and twisted techno-shamanistic rhythms. Reprising the nocturnal explorations of Moonshadow and In Exile, this expertly mixed collection of mind-bending classics explores the darker side of the genre while journeying through the deepest part of night from 1:30 to 3:30am.

Basilisk is a veteran multi-genre DJ, co-founder of the psychedelic techno label @Techgnosis-Records alongside @benramamusic, founder of the iconic @Ektoplazm free music portal and label group (including Ektoplazm, Drumlore, and Omnitropic), lossless audio enthusiast, and dedicated archivist and electronic music curator. Originally hailing from Toronto, Canada, he is now based in Taipei, Taiwan.

Psytrance, techno, electro, house, trance, acid, breaks, bass, IDM, ambient—you name it, I probably spin it. My mixes fluidly combine different genres into harmonic journeys that defy convention. I encourage you to browse around and get lost in some of the many sonic microcosms I have meticulously curated over the years. Nearly all mixes posted here are available for download on my homepage.
