Live set from FnF Campout XXI in the dark at 3am: We were beyond stoked to play under the Radiant Atmosphere lights on Know:Audio's full rig. Our intentions for the set were Badass-tech, Swampy curveballs, & evocative energies. We were trying to summon primal energies and ancient archetypes. For years we've wanted to use Ministry's "So What" in a set and we basically framed this whole energy upon that anchor/pivot. We can't stop dancing to these tracks and hope you enjoy 'em as well!

3am Invocations - Dao & Pwny - Live at FnF XXI 2017

Been spinning a long time, 29 years, more than half my life.  Have spun nearly every genre, have vacillated between taking this very seriously and not giving a fuck.  It is more than a hobby, this is integrating an artistic conversation spanning the globe and it is my passion.  This particular conversation we’ve been having in the Deep (house/tech/breaks) arena is particularly dope, and I’m excited to be a participant by spinning & producing that which moves my ass and soul, and raises my hands to the sky.  If asked, I'll say I spin Swamp music... humid Deep House/Breaks/Tech with vivid palates. &#13;

Mixing is my zen-state.  It isn’t an intentional act as much as it is communion with sound, with the muse.  I don’t plan Sets.  My mantra is the ‘right song at the right time’, and you’re never going to answer that question until you’re in the moment.  I kicked the vinyl habit in ‘05, but I still use CDJs..  You can hear the excitement in a live-mixed set, when there’s no net, when the DJ is a sneeze away from a trainwreck.  I like a slippery beat or two, to flash your cards, to show this is real, this is Now, and we’re deep in it, together.  I also only like to mix deep, 3 mins or so.  It isn’t deep music unless you mix it deep, over your head in sounds, dancing with them as if Tai Chi, rolling them into another as if an Akido master.  The tracks dictate how they want to be mixed, the moment dictates what energy wants to emerge next; a DJ isn’t there to be intentional, we’re supposed to be receptive. There are relationships that provoke the best in one another, that constantly challenge each other to be their best.  Dao & Pwny, both old school veterans, started a collaboration in 2008 that would change both them and their audience.  Their divergent style influenced each other into a cohesive Deep sound.  They shun the narrow term Deep House, and instead embrace everything bassy & Deep, creating a cohesive amalgam of deep house, deep breaks, deep tech, and cerebral emotive grooves that defy genres.  True musicians, their unplanned live dialogue is tethered by harmonics and key changes primary to beats and groove.  Yet, they're locked into the crowd and rule the groove, with songs changing phases often and evoking somatic soulful dancing. They entice, they tease, they hit your g-spot, and we all come together.  Their love is palpable and their stage presence is deep in it with the dancefloor.  A genuine treat for both your hips, ears, and soul.
