The theme is the end of quarantine, freedom, and new beginnings. This is our most important summer. We wanted to start with the tender energy of dawn out of a long dark night. The mid-set breakbeats represent breaking the chains of quarantine and isolation. Penultimately, Dubtribe's deeply ambivalent Do It Now still inspires a new beginning for us all, on its 20th anniversary. We hope this mix feels as liberating for you as it was for us to make. Perhaps, like birds at dawn.

FNF has meant so much to me since the first time I attended in 2001. It was the location where much of the early Brass Tax crew came to really know and love each other. Its former location, Walter and Jane Camp's land in Willets, inspired me to own my own land someday. 

When I was given the honor to play the closing set on Sunday morning, I knew I had to make it special with tracks that are as close to my heart as this campout. North Cack is an ode to my home state of NC. Drop the Hate was a track that OG BTx DJ Loosebeats would use to close many of our early 420 renegades. Dog Days was a song that got me through a particularly hard patch of summer last year, and anyone who knows me well knows how much Willie means to my family and how much Rainbow Connection means to Brass Tax. 

Many thanks to the FNF crew and all the work you do to make this campout an enduring bright light every year, and to the Music Committee for gifting me my dream slot and allowing me to bring this one home in 2023. And thanks to Brad Katz and his crew, who make that main stage bass thump like nobody else can.

You rock down to electric avenue to find your friends! You soon get distracted by the chosen two frogs in socks performing in the metro area... No, Wait, What?!... Shit, you realize you're tripping way too hard. You are lost in the party. You twist around so many people talking and motoring around. As you run, no, as I ran between moments of enthusiasm and moments of obsession. Afterall, you can only ran past tense, someone wise told you that once... Where did the time go? Were you in control? You may have made a show with those, um, cats and hats? What was that all about anyway? Where's your phone? Can someone call me, please? Where'd Karma Patrol go with those starburst? Well... Fuck that then, we're on a raw mission to lost and found through acid neverland, or was this just a plastic dream? It feels like you've been wandering all day, but then you take a shy look at the lights. Omg, the lights!!! Could heaven ever be like this? 

We got your friendly vibes, chopped up vocals, feelings of badassery, swampy breaks, flirts with trance, happy peaks, dark troughs, deep mixes, and happy little accidents throughout your journey. But don't worry, lover, you have music in your eyes. You'll find us in the end, on the inside and the outside, because wir sind kinder :)

Ok, you're the DJ(s)...8:45am...the morning sun is shining, and a field of friends and family are reveling in the afterglow of a three hour dawn set by Thugfucker.  What do you play?  How do you follow that?  These are questions Dao & I were honored and privileged to answer more than hypothetically at the FnF summer campout 2012, only a few days ago.  We are proud to have spent  time and energy crafting this set.  (This is a re-creation, polished and pretty for you ;)  We wore kimonos.  We had a blast.  We're grateful and amazed and we're still glowing!  Kimono-a-go-go 4eva. ;-)  (please see timed comments for ALL track ID's, and support the artists!!)

Dao & Pwny - Morning with Friends & Family (1x1 tag)

As I upload this mix I am still at a loss for words.  On November 20, 2019 the greater Tahoe and Reno community lost one of our most treasured resources and our world will never be the same.  Zephyr touched the hearts of everyone that had the privilege of meeting him.  I process, purge and share my emotions through my music and dj sets.  You can say I wear my heart on my sleeve but instead the shirt is 2 cdj's and a mixer.  Creating this set in memory of Zephyr has been one of the most emotional experiences I have had with music in my life.  As I auditioned music I thought of spending time with him in our Camp at Burningman, watching in awe as he played his guitar while rocking out to Prince and watching him dance (better than some of my friends) to deep house when I would play live at Coffee Bar, Squaw and Guitarfish.  I thought of his parents Greg and Moni and what a devastating experience this has been for them as they take it all head on and somehow keep it together.  I thought of the Grandparents,the rest of their families as well as the amazing community coming together to support them and one another in these heartbreaking times.  I thought of all these things and cried, smiled and cried some more and it has left me emotionally drained and helped the healing process begin for me and I hope it can do the same for you.  I feel blessed to live in such a loving community and this community Love's You Zephyr.

You Are Love...for Zephyr

Been spinning a long time, 29 years, more than half my life.  Have spun nearly every genre, have vacillated between taking this very seriously and not giving a fuck.  It is more than a hobby, this is integrating an artistic conversation spanning the globe and it is my passion.  This particular conversation we’ve been having in the Deep (house/tech/breaks) arena is particularly dope, and I’m excited to be a participant by spinning & producing that which moves my ass and soul, and raises my hands to the sky.  If asked, I'll say I spin Swamp music... humid Deep House/Breaks/Tech with vivid palates. &#13;

Mixing is my zen-state.  It isn’t an intentional act as much as it is communion with sound, with the muse.  I don’t plan Sets.  My mantra is the ‘right song at the right time’, and you’re never going to answer that question until you’re in the moment.  I kicked the vinyl habit in ‘05, but I still use CDJs..  You can hear the excitement in a live-mixed set, when there’s no net, when the DJ is a sneeze away from a trainwreck.  I like a slippery beat or two, to flash your cards, to show this is real, this is Now, and we’re deep in it, together.  I also only like to mix deep, 3 mins or so.  It isn’t deep music unless you mix it deep, over your head in sounds, dancing with them as if Tai Chi, rolling them into another as if an Akido master.  The tracks dictate how they want to be mixed, the moment dictates what energy wants to emerge next; a DJ isn’t there to be intentional, we’re supposed to be receptive.  You can hear the difference.&#13;
