I am Lumenetti.  I am firmly indoctrinated to the Church of House.  I have been mixing vinyl, and weaving together beats since 2000 and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I am currently based in Denver, CO. I have had the opportunity to play along some of legendary talent such as DJ Dan, Sandra Collins, John Aquaviva, Junkie XL, Paul O, and many others and look to jazz, funk, yacht rock, my amazing friends and heart and soul for inspiration.  I make music to make hearts lift up and because it is the best medicine.  I love to hear from you.  Please say hi.

Lumenetti, aka Dawn Leonetti,  has been illuminating dance floors on the West Coast  since 2001.  Mixing vinyl beats at raves and night clubs in Portland, Seattle, Chicago and San Francisco, dance floors appreciated her upbeat, techno-house style and she was quickly tapped to play with legendary DJ's such as DJ Dan, DJ Three, Carl Cox, Sandra Collins, John Acquaviva, Christopher Lawrence and Paul Oakenfold.  In 2005 her and DJ partner, Levi (Levi) were asked to start the Portland chapter of "Qool Happy Hour" party made famous at 111 Mina Qool events by the legendary team of Jondi and Spesh. Her own production company, Sexy Krew in Portland, OR threw legendary annual theme parties such as the Cat Party, Manoj e Trois (featuring DJ's Manoj and DJ Three) and the White party.  In San Francisco she has played at the End Up, F9, the Armory, The Armory Club and at Sunday Best and Dopevan Production events.  She currently resides in San Francisco and can be found spinning at local clubs, parties, her own bedroom of course, and occasionally at Burning Man. Been spinning a long time, 29 years, more than half my life.  Have spun nearly every genre, have vacillated between taking this very seriously and not giving a fuck.  It is more than a hobby, this is integrating an artistic conversation spanning the globe and it is my passion.  This particular conversation we’ve been having in the Deep (house/tech/breaks) arena is particularly dope, and I’m excited to be a participant by spinning & producing that which moves my ass and soul, and raises my hands to the sky.  If asked, I'll say I spin Swamp music... humid Deep House/Breaks/Tech with vivid palates. &#13;

Mixing is my zen-state.  It isn’t an intentional act as much as it is communion with sound, with the muse.  I don’t plan Sets.  My mantra is the ‘right song at the right time’, and you’re never going to answer that question until you’re in the moment.  I kicked the vinyl habit in ‘05, but I still use CDJs..  You can hear the excitement in a live-mixed set, when there’s no net, when the DJ is a sneeze away from a trainwreck.  I like a slippery beat or two, to flash your cards, to show this is real, this is Now, and we’re deep in it, together.  I also only like to mix deep, 3 mins or so.  It isn’t deep music unless you mix it deep, over your head in sounds, dancing with them as if Tai Chi, rolling them into another as if an Akido master.  The tracks dictate how they want to be mixed, the moment dictates what energy wants to emerge next; a DJ isn’t there to be intentional, we’re supposed to be receptive.  You can hear the difference.&#13;

Welcome to my SoundCloud page, how nice of you to stop in! 

I was born and raised in the San Francisco bay area and feel lucky to be residing in SF in an especially lush and fertile environment for electronic music culture at this moment. Lately I've been mixing deep house, tech house, minimal..... but as always, tracks are whatever I find atmospheric, well produced, and/or have a certain vibe/groove.  When I hear a track for the first time, my jaw hits the floor and I yell "WTF is THIS?!?" ...that's the track I want to play, all of the time! :-D

In 2003 I started playing vinyl with the intention of mixing and DJing.   I switched to CDJs in 2010 -  vowing never to travel to the desert with records again - which was becoming a yearly phenomenon.              
As much as I was loathe to abandon the vinyl format, the realization that vinyl is not environmentally sustainable, that I would be able to collect more music, and support more artists by moving to digital solidified my conviction.  

I always ID tracks on my mixes I post to the best of my ability, and take care to keep notes during any session - whether it's in the bedroom or playing out live - for the purpose of crediting artists and passing on the enjoyment of great music to the listener.  I hope you enjoy some of the music that moves me.   And, please, please support the artists we love by purchasing their tracks!  :)

You will find several tracks repeated in the mixes I post, which is unorthodox. I broadcast a live DJ set most Tuesday mornings ( Brunch With Pwny on www.mixlr.com/pwny ) and gig actively. I have tracks that survive the test of time and when it's the right time to use an older track, I will do so. Most mixes I post now are recordings of the live broadcast or of a gig.
