BIOGRAPHY :

From Montreal’s underground scene to major European festivals like Glastonbury, GUAPO is an explosive DJ, Producer & Guitarist whose Bass Music mixes regularly rank in the Top 5 on Mixcloud’s Global Charts. 

He hosts monthly radio shows on CKUT 90.3 FM and LaFaceB.Live. As a Composer & Music Supervisor for Film & TV he was nominated for a Jutra Award and worked on projects for Netflix, Universal, Showcase... 

He worked as Music Coordinator & DJ with fashion icon Jean Paul Gaultier and Cirque Du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté on projets that featured crowds of over 15,000 spectators.

He collaborated live and/or in the studio with Grammy & Juno Award winners (Youth, Luisito Quintero, Alpha Yaya Diallo), and with seminal artists like Suns of Arqa, Adrian Sherwood, and Luke Vibert + BluRum 13’s project BLUKE. 

He is a co-founder of the Flamingo Funk crew that booked bass music headliners like Krafty Kuts and Mista Trick to perform in Canada.

Rapidly building a reputation as a festival closing powerhouse, what sets GUAPO apart is his electric stage presence. 

A natural showman, he thrives on crowd interaction, fueling a high-energy atmosphere that turns dance floors into full-blown frenzies of absurd, anarchic fun. 

His performances are a wild experience, driven by bad ass bass from the bowels of Hell !

MUSICAL STYLES :

Musically, GUAPO is a sonic shapeshifter—his Bass Music sets are a loving tribute to sample culture, weaving together anthems from Funk, Soul, Blues, Reggae, Rock, Latin, Brazilian, Disco, Metal, Swing, and Hip-Hop. 

These classic sounds are chopped, glitched, and remixed into futuristic forms like Glitch Hop, Ghetto Funk, Breaks, Bass House, UK Garage, DnB, Ragga Jungle, and Swing n Bass.

While his main focus these days is Bass Music, Guapo is versatile in other genres.

His HOUSE MUSIC sets are a seamless fusion of tribal percussion, Afro Beat Funk, Latin sophistication and Brazilian sensuality, expertly layered with soulful disco House and funky Electro.

In his WORLD MUSIC sets, he weaves a tapestry of sounds from India, the Middle East, the Maghreb and Anatolia, melding them with the  resonant vibrations of Dub, Downtempo, Breakbeat, and Deep House. Taking listeners on a journey across continents and cultures.

His DOWNTEMPO performances are an eclectic blend of Jazz, Soul, Reggae, Brazilian-Latin Lounge, and Hip Hop, infused with the melancholy atmospheric textures of Chillstep, Trip Hop and Synth Pop.  Offering a laid-back experience that hits you right in the feels.

DJ DISCOKING, born in July, 1979.
He first encountered hiphop culture in 1993, and quickly got hooked on breaking, graffiti, and rap. He also likes skate culture and playing kendama, but what he loves most is  collecting vinyl records and cassette tapes. In New York, 2004, he founded the international Dragon Diggers DJ crew along with NERY, and he has been living the DJ life ever since. As one of the veteran B-boy DJ's in Mainland China, and as the first Chinese B-boy & battle DJ to spin abroad, he's been a big influence in the scene, appearing in more street culture events than any other. This first-generation Chinese DJ is an OG and gets VIP treatment from many popular groups, especially at large music events. With a unique style, and many years of experience, he only creates new and original material, never copying or biting others' art. In 2006 he founded 163Culture, a team that promotes street culture and organizes various events to share the true essence of hiphop and  to encourage up-and-coming new talents.
