For those that follow me, I'm not known for playing House music. This set is my version of House. 

Here is the inspiration:
I've been traveling a lot... Barcelona, NYC, Miami, San Diego, LA, Istanbul, Kenya, Burning Man, Mexico City, Mountain camping, and recently returned from Sarasota, FL where I was visiting my parents and a couple of friends. 

Although I don't have a physical home in any of these places, (I didn't even have a tent at Burning Man), my connection with others made me feel at home. When I travel, music guides my journey- I dance through unfamiliar streets and explore the world. 

While in Sarasota I was invited to a "fashionable" event so I dressed accordingly... in true (dusty) style. I noticed the Event producer/DJ was wearing a similar robe/kimono & necklace, so I introduced myself and discovered he was also a burner. We immediately synced and he invited me to tag in and play during the event. Afterward, he graciously invited me to DJ at a local club. He made me feel at home. 

The friends that hosted me in SRQ have been the most supportive and loving over the years- encouraging me to be myself and express my authentic self. Which is reflective of all my friends. "You like to paint your toenails? that's cool and we don't question your sexuality just because other men don't do that- you are being you!"

I felt so comfortable being myself and not caring what others thought. Just because they think/act/dress/speak/do what everyone else does... doesn't mean I have to. 

At the club, Nati (https://soundcloud.com/nati-shabbat) played "The Biggest Heart- Roy Rosenfeld" and we were vibing. This set begins with that track and created a lovely house set in memory of the weekend and all my recent solo trips. The set ends with the track "Don't hold back -  Monolink", which is a reminder to be yourself and don't hold back. 

Always have the courage to be yourself, and whenever you are by yourself... Home/House is where the heart is. I hope this set makes you feel at home too.

We'd been waiting for this one since NYE when an impromptu tag set happened between these two and we knew it was fate at it's finest hour.  We got the boys together and the result was incredible, a 4 hour B2B set with The Scumfrog also providing some live drums to compliment the set had Mighty in a frenzy of dance.  We are certainly looking forward to doing this again!

Oh man do we have a long-awaited set for you today. Marques Wyatt has been someone we've looked up to for years, not just for his music but because he's been an absolute beacon of light in our community for as long as we can remember. For one reason or another it never worked out getting Marques on a Desert Hearts lineup, but every time we ran into him expressing our desire to book him, he'd flash us his big bright smile and say, "When it's meant to be, it's meant to be." Well in 2017 it was meant to be and we finally got this ray of positivity at the helm of our Desert Hearts dance floor. The result was pure magic, pure vibe, & pure love. It was the uniting of a house music legend with the tribe he's supposed to be a part of. Welcome to the Family, Marques. Your spirit's always been here but now it's official. There was no real Burn in 2020, as you well know, but we still had playa music all week at the Virtual version of Burning Man where Opulent Temple had a camp in the 'Dusty Multiverse'.

I approached the set as I always would a playa set. I was imagining starting on playa at 9:00pm (as this set did), with the dance floor slowly filling up with that 'come for a magic night' vibe that always accompanies the Wednesday night Sacred Dance white costume party at Opulent Temple.

Start off pretty and deeper, a little more progressive than my usual sound, build it up and pull it back before getting to a more jackin' groove, and end on a pretty note.  Hope you feel the desert vibez.

Ethan - Live for Silver Lucy

Colorful founder of the much-loved Bay Area dance collective, Friends and Family, Ethan has been making dance floors sweat since 1993. Known early in his career for hard Acid and Techno sets, the years since have revealed a taste for Breaks, House, Tech House, Deep House, and of course Techno of all flavors. 

While currently turning up at DISTRIKT, BrassTax, Space Cowboys, Strategik, MotorCityJam, Prohibition, Opel, and other Bay Area underground events, Ethan has also held residencies at MAD Mondays, RhythmMethod, Delve, and of course Friends and Family. Reaching way back you would have found him holding it down at some of SF's now legendary raves including The Gathering, Vision, Basics and more.
