London-based DJ, producer and radio host Even Funkier weaves together Disco, Funk, House, Soul, Boogie, Jazz, Hip Hop and Global delights to create something fresh, irresistibly funky and downright groovy. He plays tunes from across the decades, genres and BPMs, mixing up hidden gems with tried and tested favourites, with a focus on sweet, sweet Disco music brought right up to date for modern dancefloors.

This week we have a true rising star on the podcast in MAXJAX.

He sent us over this note along with this killer deep / tech mix.

" I’m MAXJAX, a 14-year-old DJ and Music Producer from England and my deep/tech house music vibes have raised many eyebrows within the music industry from famous DJs and Producers worldwide.

In Lockdown, I decided to produce a beat to play alongside my guitar. I had a play around on GarageBand, and stumbled across making many different genres, including Jazz, Hip-Hop, EDM, and many more, until I found a genre that came completely natural to me… DEEP HOUSE.

Since then, I learnt ableton, which is my go-to DAW and any minute I get, I jump on ableton (or play football).

On my 11th birthday, I got some DJ equipment and ever since, I’ve played at multiple gigs, as well as receiving a residency with UNDRGRND EVENT and SUPERTEENZ

My relationship with Jovonn sparked from me posting a video of me making my track ‘‘Don’t’’ and later that evening, Jovonn got in contact with my parents, wishing to sign my track.

During my journey, I have visited defected’s HQ in shoreditch and met the likes of Jovonn, Cinthie, Rio Tashan, Stanley Hood and more! I can’t wait for what the future holds."

I had a nice time during my hour, playing a selection of disco and funk oldies, with a few promos in the second hour. Good to be back in business with my laptop fixed and my setup in its new and improved location - excuse a bit of feedback on the mic as i’m still getting everything just right. 
My guest this time was FunkSupply, a DJ from Portsmouth on the South coast of England. I had the pleasure of meeting him on a dancefloor in East London a couple of weeks back watching Young Pulse, and I can confirm he’s a nice bloke. His mix is nice too - a pulsing, high energy mix of disco and disco house with tracks from the likes of Jamiroquai and Shapeshifters.

Funkky's story is one of passion, creativity, and cultural exchange. Born and raised in the middle Atlas of Morocco, he was exposed to a diverse range of musical influences from an early age. Drawing on his heritage and cultural background, Funkky began producing music that fused traditional North African rhythms with modern electronic beats.

Since his debut release in 2020, Funkky has continued to push boundaries and explore new sounds, collaborating with vocalists from around the world. His work with Foliage Records has been particularly noteworthy, with remixes from legendary producers Jimpster and Eric Kupper.
