Gotek's 138 BPM Euphoric, Melodic, & Uplifting Trance sets!!! ^_^

This is "Part 2" B2B opening set from Friday, July 7th, where I was incredibly honored to be on the opening roster for a UK Trance Legend, JOHN ASKEW, at Ora Seattle!!! Once again, I was able to join my dear buddy from Portland, Zoxy, behind the decks for a B2B ("back-to-back") set, and we had the distinct honor of handing off the decks to John Askew, whom both Zoxy and I had been a fan of since the very early days of Trance in the 90’s. I am calling this set “Part 2” because I had already played for an hour before this with another great DJ buddy of mine, Eric Weber, a.k.a. WEB for an unplanned B2B set to open the club. We were filling in for another DJ who was not feeling well that night unfortunately, but it was a unique opportunity to play for 2 hours and kick off the night with a cool progressive set with Eric, then ratchet it all the way up to 138 BPM’s to get the club heated up for John Askew, which was a lot of fun. It was an amazing evening of incredible music, and the crowd of Trance fans there to see John Askew was SO much fun to play for.. For this one, Zoxy and I played a mixture of some brand-new releases, as well as a few older, more vintage Trance Choones from yesteryear, and I even busted out “Call The Galaxy Taxi” by Plastic Angel, such a classic from the early 2000’s that sounded SOOO awesome on the club sound system, and we had the dance floor jumping up and down a few times. Anyway, incredible night, and once again, being able to hand off to John Askew was a true honor. Organic Trance with Fatum | Episode 008

Hey guys, sorry for the long delay, but just uploaded my set from back on October 6th, opening for GANESH, a Trance and Techno OG West Coast DJ/Producer and very early adopter to the LA Trance Rave scene in the 90’s. This was a real treat to be able open for such a well-known “semi-local” pioneer and influencer on the underground Ravey Techno/Trance sounds, and a staple DJ on the festival line-up’s like Dreamstate. I got to hand off the decks to Ganesh, whom was a super nice, humble, and intellectual guy, and a literal “mad scientist” when it came to mixing haha; it was mesmerizing and inspirational watching his hands expertly fly around all the effects as he wove his magical dark techno beats. My newish DJ buddy, Bryan Keyes, newcomer to the Seattle Trance scene from Alaska, opened the club and threw down an awesome set as well. I always love these opportunities to open for these 140+ BPM DJ’s because it allows me to play up to 138 BMP Trance, which isn’t common for openers to be able to play that fast, but one of my favorite genre’s and what originally lured me into Trance in the first place, uplifting 138 BPM Trance bangers!! I lucked out because I wanted to have a bit of a classic Trance element to this set because of Ganesh’s tenure in the scene, and there just happened to be several hot new remixes recently released of some uber-classic sounds, like the Emery vs Brisky Remix of Nu NRG’s “Dreamland”, Maria Healy’s remix of BT’s “Godspeed”, and Cosmic Boys’ new remix of the timeless “Café Del Mar” by Energy 52, which I kicked the set off with.. Plus, so many other great recently released tracks, and Ganesh let me spin one final track past my set time while he got set up, so I was able to squeeze 13 tracks into this bad boy. Hope you like the set as much as I loved spinning it, and if you’re in the Seattle area, be sure to come out to see me open for Irish Trance rising star, Billy Gillies, on November 18th at Ora Nightclub – should be a blast, and even more 138!! Opening set for GANESH, Ora Nightclub, Fri, October 6th, 2023

On Saturday, November 18th, I was honored to be the primary support for rising star Irish Trance DJ/Producer, BILLY GILLIES, at Ora Nightclub in Seattle. It seems I have been on a roll opening for Uplifting Trance and Techno Headliners lately, which has been super fun because it allows me to tap into the higher BPM's (up to 138) which are fairly far-and-few-between opportunities for opening DJ's.. Uplifting Trance is one of my favorite genre's of electronic dance music, and what got me into Trance in the first place. I was particularly excited about this one because Billy Gillies has definitely been on my radar for the past year or so , after having first heard a set by him on the "Trance Sanctuary" monthly podcast, which follows all the big DJ's and newer, relevant names rising in the scene in the big Trance Clubs in the UK. I was super excited about his tracks and remixes, and became a fan instantly. This set was so much fun, and I got to spin for the first time with an O.G. Seattle DJ who's been around for long before I showed up in the Seattle DJ scene, Kazan. I was able to squeeze in 13 tracks into this one, which is packed from beginning to end with amazingly euphoric bangers, spiced up with a couple classics from yesteryear which still send chills down my spine to this day; the Odonbat Remix of Karybde & Scylla's "Distorted Reality", and the timeless Temple One remix of "Things That Happen" by Will Holland, such an amazing track. The audience of Trance fans at this show was super fun to play for, and Billy Gillies showed up with a huge entourage of friends and fans that had followed him from playing three sets at Dreamstate down in LA just a few days before. Billy was a super friendly and humble guy, and it was a real honor to meet him and hand the decks off to this amazingly talented guy. This will likely be my last headliner opening show for the year, but I do have NYE show lined up in Portland, which should be a lot of fun, and I hope to have another Progressive House demo mix finished before Christmas, so keep your eye out for those! Opening set for Billy Gillies, Ora Nightclub, Sat. November 18th, 2023

Hey guys, well it’s been a while since I posted any Uplifting Trance demo mixes.. Well, guess what, I’M BACK!!! (Haha) Truth be known, regardless of how long I go in between Uplifting Trance sets, I still do listen to it, my first love in this type of music, before Progressive House or anything else, Uplifting Trance of the 138-140 BPM caliber was what originally hooked me into this world and scene and encouraged me to buy my first set of DJ gear and force myself to learn how to play, on vinyl back then.. Anyway, I still listen to it all the time, and am always researching and buying new tracks to add to my collection. You’ll notice with this one that there is a HELLUVA-LOTTA Vocal Trance on this one compared to my usual selections, but oh man, there are SO many amazing vocal tracks coming out these days, so I couldn’t resist. You may also possibly notice that I am attempting to programatize these demos, just like with my “Prog Sessions” progressive house demo mixes, I am starting a new series for Hi-NRG Uplifting “138”-type tracks, and I am calling it “Trance Mission”, which, I know, is extremely predictable.. However, my veeerry first residency was for a show in Portland called “Trance Mission”, and that title is not really used anymore, but it brings back great memories for me. So, screw it, there’s probably 10,000 other mixes called Trance Mission, but this is the DJ Gotek version haha, and I’ll make it a series. Couple shout-outs on this demo set: first of all I loaded it up with some super-charged tracks from some of my favorite go-to Uplifting artists, Billy Gillies, Craig Connally, Temple One, etc. so a few extra doses of major spine tingles. The lyrics to the Lost Witness track, “Carry Me Home” really reminded me of having to put my 17-year-old, blind Pug, Stella, to sleep a few years ago, and I was literally crying when I played that track and singing along. Such a beautiful, and deeply heart-breaking song (to me). And lastly, I finished the mix with a classic from 2011 that I have been meaning to play for such a long time, Lifted Emotion, “In My Dreams”, fit so perfectly into this vocals-centric mix as a beautuful way to end it. Anyway, had a lot of fun with this one, and I hope you like it. This (to me) is the true spirit of Uplifting Trance, to me, and if you’re feeling down and you listen to this, you will be uplifted. Jaytech Music Podcast 190 - Best of 2024

Hey guys, Happy New Year!!! Hard to believe it’s already January 6th and year has begun and is waiting for no one, ready or not haha. So… I tried really, really hard to get this mix out before the end of 2024, and wanted to call it “Year End Mix”, but I had to re-record it several times in December before I got just the right take that I liked, and it ran my sound guy who levels my mixes for streaming out of time before he took some vacation at the end of the year. So, looks like we are kicking off the New Year with an Uplifting Trance set, vs. closing off last year. With that said, and as you probably know by now, Uplifting, Euphoric 138-140 BPM Trance will always be my first love in this music, that got me started off in my passion for Trance back in the late 90’s.. So I will always continue to have a warm place in my heart for this music, regardless of its crests and troughs in popularity. This mostly instrumental mix is absolutely dripping with euphoric highs, giant, breath-taking break downs and crescendos, and is featuring some of my favorite Uplifting Trance artists, such as Craig Connelly, Alex Wright, Nitrous Oxide, Lostly, Activa, John Askew, Paul Miller, and I kick it off with such a banger and, subsequently, the only vocal track on the mix, “Oceans”, by DJ T.H., SUCH a great track.. The artist highlight on this mix is definitely Alex Wright, and I played 4 of his tracks in this set, whereas I did the same thing for Craig Connelly in the last Trance Mission set. Just couldn’t get enough of Alex’s sound in this mix, such the perfect Uplifting Trance that talented guy creates. And BTW, the mix art was from a picture I took in Hawaii in December, my favorite place. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this journey through uplifting sounds as much as I did playing it!! Also, I should have the next iteration of "Prog Sessions" series done sometime soon, as well as a New Years B2B set I played at Ora with Eric Weber, a.k.a. WEB, so keep your eye out for those.. A State of Trance 2025 | Rotterdam, NL | 22.02.2025

It seems I have been on a 138 BPM kick lately, and to add to the ever-expanding “DJ Gotek repertoire of 138 BPM mixes” I finally got around to recording this earlier in the week on Monday, August 15, 2016, after several weeks of delay due to business travel for my “real job” (haha)! This one was a lot of fun and I was able to cross a few more of my favorite EPIC classics from yesteryear off my bucket list to use in a mix; this time I even busted out my old Trance vinyl collection and the Technics turntables to add in some very vintage and  rare tracks straight from vinyl, which was a load of fun as well, although you may hear some scratches and pops due to the years-old & well-played vinyl plus it’s so hard to get the levels to sound right with this really old Trance compared to the super high-fidelity new production stuff, of which there are some incredible just released spine-tingly and highly euphoric CHOONS on here as well. From the classics side I kicked it off with one of my favorite long-lost tracks from the early days of Trance on vinyl, the eternally awesome Super8 Remix of Aurora’s “Sleeping Satellite”, and also included Thrillseeker’s incredible remix of “Can You Feel” by Sholan, plus a recent insane remake of Goldenscan’s "Only With You", and end it off with the timeless and haunting "Choose Freedom" by Ultravibe, all of which are many, many years old now, and names you probably have not heard in a while, or perhaps even EVER haha, and it's all just as good all these years later!!! This one also features the brand new epic release from Swedish Trance powerhouse Bjorn Akesson ("Paper Dreams"), whom I am honored to be opening for in Seattle this month at the Underground on Friday, Aug 26, SOOOO EXCITED about this one!!! Lastly I would have to say Aimoon’s brand new release "Thunderbolt" is probably my very favorite track on the mix, or is it Alex M.O.R.P.H. and "Sunset Boulevard"?? Hard to say.. but needless to say there is all sorts of incredible stuff on this 84 minute behemoth of Hi-NRG Melodic Trance action to help you finish off the sunny days of summer. All mixes were either recorded live in the club or directly from Mark's gear (DJM A9 Mixer, 2 Pioneer CDJ3000's) recorded on a Zoom H4n Pro in WAV format, then professionally sound leveled post-recording, Voice ID Tagged, and  converted to MP3 by Chris Dececio Studios in the UK. EVERY single mix on Mark's Soundcloud was recorded live and in the moment on top-notch Pioneer DJ gear, not mixed with computer software, so they might not be exactly perfect 100% of the time, but they are "real", which is a standard of mix quality, authenticity, care, passion for live mixing, and DJ integrity Gotek is proud of. =)
