Pullin from the Stacks - Episode 177

We are delighted to host a very special and eclectic mix from internationally renowned veteran DJ and radio presenter, Marcia Carr. Marcia is seasoned club DJ and radio presenter, known for tearing up clubs alongside legends and upcoming stars, presenting ‘Everything Good’ on the legendary Rinse FM, curating go-to events and directing the all-vinyl, all-female DJ squad Girlz B Like. Carr has seen and done it all, since stepping on to the floor as as young jazz dancer, and remains relevant, influential and inspirational to this day. 

@ms-marcia: “Within my spirit it felt right, almost comforting to kick off this set by going back to my roots with some modal jazz then into a bevvy of fusion.  From there on the grooveline became a display of expressionism; a sense of peace fused with optimism for the future in this hedonistic bubble of a world that I inhabit.   A lot of people I know tend to hear me play a lot of electronica sounds which are more on the house and Broken beat side of the dance music spectrum.  Flexing my versatility, when I can either at specialist club nights or on the radio - variety is indeed the spice of life, it's my "get away" just like the words of the song by Earth, Wind & Fire.”

Marc Mac of 4Hero fame (founded with Dego) and tons of other projects like Visioneers, Nu Era has been one of the most influential forces in all sorts of cutting edge British music; from Jungle, Broken Beat to Downtempo.

Pullin from the Stacks - Episode 198

On this months show we have author, producer, Grammy Award nominee — Jon Kirby. Jon Kirby was the Associate Editor at Wax Poetics (2007-2010) and currently provides A&R, Research and Development for The Numero Group. On the show we go to great lengths to discuss the first discoveries of UTB/Andre Gibson and how their friendship led to an on-going partnership. Plus the beginnings of the ‘Ultra High Frequencies: The Chicago Party’, history and experience surrounding Chicago and what it truly means to be working for a great organisation like the Numero Group. To wrap up the show, a tribute mix is included showcasing some of the great music featured on the Numero Group releases where Jon’s direction is applied.
