Stanton Warriors - Loveburn Sunrise DJ Set

This week, we are starting a series of live recordings from the inaugural Unison Campout. Unison was a project Space Cowboys have been a part of since the beginning—combining the forces of many communities and crews to raise money during the pandemic with livestreams and this was the first all in-person event!

It makes sense then to open the series with @Lowdeka, whose killer set opened up Saturday after the ceremony and tore up the dance floor!

About Lowdeka:
Lowdeka is a Producer/Dj and California native who has three decades in the various incarnations of the west coast underground culture. As a b-boy (break dancer) battling his way through the 90's and as a Dj since 1999. This has had a profound influence on his music style which can be heard in a variety of genres.  As a producer, Lowdeka is in pursuit of the perfect amalgamation of the sounds that inspire him; funky bass lines, hype breaks, head bobbing rhythms, aggressive drops and an unrelenting energy is shared amongst an array of genres that make up his unique style.

“BOC 2023 absolutely went OFF! That stage was crowded with love, and I was so happy to be joined up there by my family and friends. Thank you SF. You sure know how to bring it on the dance floor. Playing this set for you was an immense pleasure. The energy was palpable, and I love the exchange that we engage in, bringing each other higher, and elevating the vibe to the stars!!

I was incredibly honored to open for my friend GUAU from Spain, and play many tunes that were crafted by friends of mine. I’m incredibly lucky to be able to do something that brings me SO MUCH JOY!!!

Without doubt, DJ ICON has become an iconic figure in the U.S. dance music industry and beyond. With a career spanning 25 years, she has captivated audiences the world over with her bass-heavy cross-genre House, Breaks and Bass Music sound; magnetic stage presence, skillful DJ mixes and productions. It’s no wonder why she’s been dubbed one of the leading ladies of this domain.  

Starting in 1996 at age 16, ICON diligently rose through the ranks of the San Francisco underground at a time when female DJs and promoters were few. In just a few years, her skills and growing reputation had already landed her numerous residencies in San Francisco, as well as a steady flow of stateside and international bookings. ICON has also gained success in radio and television in addition to rocking dancefloors. Among her accolades are releases on well-known labels, features in two TV series, a spot in Shejay’s “Top 100 Female DJs”, being voted one of San Francisco’s best in the Nitevibe “Top 10 DJ Dreamteam”, scoring a coveted sponsorship from Pioneer Pro DJ and building a huge fanbase on her social media pages and Soundcloud.

ICON has toured the world performing throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe and Asia at world renowned clubs such as 1015 Folsom and Ruby Skye in San Francisco, Limelight in NYC, Fabric and Matter in London, and Avalon in LA; as well as world-class music festivals such as Coachella Music Festival, Ultra Music Festival, Burning Man and Fuel Festival in Singapore. ICON has had extensive history on the radio waves with past residencies and guest spots on respected dance music programs such as Thump Funk and Boombox Mix Sessions on SiriusXM, Liquid Todd’s Solid State on K-ROCK in NYC (Infinity Broadcasting); IBreaks and NuBreaks in London, Radio Record in Russia; and a plethora of dance music radio shows in her hometown, including House Nation on Wild 94.9 FM, Subsonic on Live 105, Zendada on Energy 92.7, and Future Breaks on KUSF. She has also made her way onto the small screen: In 2001, she was featured as one of twelve up-and-coming American DJs in “Disc Jockey,” a 12-part documentary series that aired on Showtime™. In 2004, she was the DJ on the internationally syndicated MTV™ series “The Wade Robson Project,” a dance competition hosted by the self-titled choreographer.

Lastly, ICON’s production endeavors have proven to be as exciting as her DJ career. Her releases on Illeven Eleven Records: “Welcome To My Dancefloor” with Dustin Hulton featuring Nikki Carabello and “Wha?” a collaboration with Bay Area producer Ground_Control had steller reviews and support by leading artists in the industry. “Dancefloor” charted at #8 and #22 on the Beatport Breakbeat and Electro charts with a great review in Mixmag. The KMFX remix of “Wha?” charted at #12 on the Beatport Breakbeat chart. ICON & GC have also done remixes of “Reload” for Deekline and Ed Solo feat. Million Dan on Rat Records and “Draggin” for Enough Weapons on Vibrance Recordings.

So what’s next for this powerhouse bass princess? More mixes, productions and remixes are in the works, as she continues to make her mark in the worldwide dance music industry.
