I live DJed this set at a private after party during the Zoukmx festival at around 2-3am while balancing my equipment on my lap 😅 


Backstory:

Before this after-party, at that night’s official social, I felt the music was really good, but didn’t explore enough dimensions.

For example, all in all, it didn’t give enough room to come back to your connection, the ground, the ambience, or give room for you to express more dimensions within your emotions.

So when we got to the after party apartment, there was this super nice cozy rooftop were we went to use as our dance floor.

It immediately got filled with people who were ready for the music! 

One big reason that I really like private after parties (or house parties in general) is that, since the atmosphere is so informal, people feel a lot more relaxed to connect deeper and just let go. 

So this was just that kind of ripe atmosphere for a DJ to bite! 

So I did! 

I felt maybe this could be a place we can explore a little more dimensions, and let the people really relax, connect deep, and then add some spice and have fun 😈.

I pooled an arm chair and stacked my DJ equipment on my lap, and got to work. 

Generally, DJing is already kinda stressful, but the instability of the equipment on my lap, definitely added a whole other level 😅

A lot of parameters come to a DJs mind when thinking about what to play.

For example, type of music played earlier on …  people’s mood, energy, vibe, …. the atmosphere’s ambiance, coziness, setup, lighting… the number of people and level of dancing… the amount of time available to DJ … the feedback observed within each and every song ... and many others.

Hence, this is the result of those calculations within my heart ❤️  

I wish I could go a lot longer, but I had to quickly bring it to an end and deal with some personal challenges 😅.

The set was performed at two events: in Brest at the Brestardance Birthday Party, and a couple of days ago in a slightly different presentation at Zouk One Love in St. Petersburg. There, after the exhibitionof this street art artist, the signature above was born - and everything (came) mixed together! Enjoy ❤️

They say my explanations of the sets make the music even more expressive...) So this set, recorded specially for the start of the season of openairs in Yekaterinburg, is about this subtle anticipation of summer. It feels like winter is already gone, but it has not fully let go yet, but summer is already here on the corner. On some tracks, you can feel the breath of the already warm wind, and maybe even the noise of already green leaves. 

But it's still not summer: when it comes, I'll play to you about it separately 😜

The space set of last year opened for me the space of DJing on a different scale. This year I discover the depth - the depth of immersion in myself, in feelings or in dance. As endless as my gratitude to ZNS for the opportunity to create on other scales and dimensions 💫
