Next up in our Record Club Guest Mix series are Sanctuary, the moniker of Ben and Liam, a DJ duo from Australia who have been living in Berlin for the past 9 years. You may be familiar with their 'Life Classics' project. It started as an output for their own edits then later branched out into a mix series and club residency at OHM in Berlin.

Their mix landed in our inbox and from the get-go we knew it was destined for the Record Club series. Covering many spectrums of soul, it masterfully glides through tempos and unleashes a quiet storm inside you. Not ones to fear a vocal, it's stuffed full of soaring voices, sweet strings and the tightest grooves. An extended blend done right!

The guys pulled from of a couple of record bags and served it up on 1210’s at their Berlin base. As they described it "back to back burgers, boozas and records all the way". 

The mix is loaded with many of their favourites and a few dusty ones from the back of their shelves. Look out for cuts from Reggie S, Stage Coach, Edwynn Page and Herby Charles. It's packed with winners, some you knew, some you do now. A real steppers' delight.

For this instalment of The Sunrise Social we journey across The Atlantic to the good old USA and a very special mix from Studebaker Hawk. Hawk is a full-time DJ, record dealer, curator of The Drop Vinyl subscription service and also runs the Peace & Rhythm record label. Hawk has released tracks on Paper Recordings and Toucan Sounds, as well as a handfull of edits on his STUDS label. 

Based between Massachusetts, USA, and Guadalajara, Mexico, Hawk jumps at every opportunity to travel and dig for records around the world. This is reflected in his fiery 100% vinyl mix for The Sunrise Social, seamlessly blending Cuban/South American flavours with obscure disco and Italo pop.

The Sunrise Social - Studebaker Hawk (Peace & Rhythm)

Born in Kent on the outskirts of London, Half Mauritian half Moroccan, raised to music from both Morocco and Mauritius, Mehdi El-Aquil is an immaculate DJ and Selector who has witnessed the pivoting of musical currents over the past decades. Heavily inspired by Jazz-funk, Hip-hop, Electro Boogie, Afro-beat, Soul, and House music, Mehdi has been honing his craft since the early 80s. As a DJ he has transitioned from playing in Ibiza to making regular appearances in London during the mid-90s, followed up by a steady relocation to Australia back in 2004.
Firm lover of music on Vinyl as a medium with a continuously rising interest in electronics and studio gear, Mehdi has gathered solid knowledge and expertise over the years, which has led to the creation of his own equipment line 10 years ago, Condesa Electronics, a globally renowned series of high-end mixers, hand-made in South Australia.

Mehdi's DJ style is free-floating, eclectic, and lively, with a penchant for positive vibes fully summarizing the essence of DJing.
