I was fortunate enough to be given a sunday set on main stage by the ever amazing Dragon crew at their 2013 doof held on the beautiful site at Wee Jasper. Cannot thank them enough for the opportunity.

Seeing so many friends and strangers simultaneously smilling whilst loosing their shit to the music that Sunday as the day drew to a close.... amazing :) One of those rare moments of truly sharing a musical experience with the dfloor. 

Set itself is a bit rough around the edges but still has a decent flow from melodic techno to cranking techno with dashes of psy here and there. Features a few tracks from moonbeam, max cooper, and electrypnose - hunt down those producers if you havent already, all amazing and unique. Proper Tracklist below.

I've always been impressed by the quality and variety of music at Subsonic, so was absolutely stoked when i was offered the chance to open the River Stage at this years festival - this is the recording of that set. No better way to start such an amazing weekend! Had an absolute blast playing, ended up a journey from quirky downtempo through techno to tasty deep tech-house. 

Mega props to the Subsonic crew for having me on board, and for running such a wicked party.

Get System 7 - Up

System 7 live in Kyoto 29 October 2011

SYSTEM 7 provide the conscious link between the techno and house explosion of the 80s and its European psychedelic antecedents of the 70s, and have had a strong influence on the birth of psychedelic dance music and its journey up to the present.

Consistently progressive, System 7’s central producers - guitarist Steve Hillage and keyboardist Miquette Giraudy - have forged a unique and bang up-to-date identity on the dance music genre map, in a space where techno, progressive and trance meet – with a healthy side-element of unique quality ambient chill. This chill element is further developed in their sister project Mirror System.

As one of the first techno groups to play live, System 7 have also had a strong influence on the development of the dance music festival scene, particularly in the UK, and are big festival favourites playing regularly around the world.

Since the beginning of the 90s System 7 projects have been marked by a series of high powered collaborations, working with Detroit luminaries Derrick May and Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, The Orb, Jam El Mar, and Son Kite among others. System 7’s club singles have had outstanding remixes from the likes of Plastikman, James Holden, Dubfire and Liquid Soul.

The most recent single “PositiveNoise” is a collaboration with A Guy Called Gerald and has remixes by Carl Craig and A.Mochi and another groundbreaking animation video by Japanese team Mood Magic. This track is taken from the new System 7 album “UP” released in June 2011, a lot of which was written and produced in Berlin.

Times Goin'

Over the Easter Long weekend 2013, the tribes gathered in the bush to dance and be merry for one absolute corker of a weekend. I was fortunate enough to play Main Stage Saturday arvo, to without a doubt the most cranking crowd I've ever played to. Absolutely unreal, you guys rock :D

Despite some technical difficulties i managed to salvage a recording of this journey through Minimal, Techno, Psy, Prog, and everything in-between.

Massive cheers to Dyl, Leigh, Jack, Loz, and the gang for the opportunity. An experience il never forget ;)

Leaving Winter Behind

Lost in an Imagined Labyrinth

UK based DJ and producer Lucas O'Brien has been rounding up dancefloors and rocking them in the right direction since he started playing funk, soul and hiphop back in the mid to late ‘80s.   Never shy of mixing up styles and genres, acid house, new-beat and techno started to creep into his sets as he started to get requests to perform at respected London clubs such as The End, Heaven, Club UK and Fabric.  

Lucas loves nothing more than having a dancefloor in his hands and working the right grooves to suit the occasion.  His knack to read a crowd and his vast experience has found him performing an array of different styles of music at many world famous institutions such as the V & A museum, the panoramic top floor of the Tate Museum of Modern Art and to a star-studded dancefloor opposite the diplodocus at the Natural History museum for the Harry Potter 3 premiere after-party. 

His trance-infused psychedelic techno music was found to crossover with the sounds being played in Goa in the early 90s… and it was this that led him to an opportunity to play at some of the early, now legendary, TIP parties hosted by Raja Ram.

Today, with three highly acclaimed chart-topping albums ‘GOD SAVE THE MACHINE’, ‘TALES OF HEADS’ and his most recent album ‘CONFESSIONS OF A SUPERMODULE’ - under his artist alias ‘SUPERMODULE’ - Lucas is recognised as one of the world’s leading psytrance DJs representing RAJA RAM’s label TIP Records globally with his unique, driving, UK psychedelic sound.
Lucas has toured extensively over that last three decades performing in over 50 different countries, and he shows no signs of slowing with his touring stretching as far afield as Europe, US, South America, Africa, Middle East, Asia and Australia.  

The same can be said for his studio productions with several exciting collaboration projects in the pipeline.  He has been working with the artists Eat Static, G.M.S, Hallucinogen, Youth, Iridian, Ingrained Instincts and Illumination to name but a few.. plus he recently released the best selling sequel to his hugely popular compilation series AVANT GARDEN.  
His new project with Celli EARTHLING, called ‘MANDELBROT’, has already been tearing up dancefloors worldwide after several high profile live sets including the main stage at OZORA Festival, BOOMTOWN, MUNDO DE OZ, UNIVERSO PARALLELO and BOOM festival.

Going back to his roots, Lucas has been working on a techno project with the respected techno/house/breaks producer Ben Coda as well as writing downtempo psy-dub music with Ric Featherstone under their moniker SYBARITE.
