Pressed on dual colour 12” Vinyl and housed in a printed and die-cut sleeve, this release pays homage to the legendary NYC club after which the release is named. The Hacker provides a deep and throbbing remix, while John Selway channels Kraftwerk for his remix.

LA-4A drops his ‘Slackline’ EP on Sheffield’s Central Processing Unit (CPU) next month (8th June). We’ve got the exclusive premiere of the title track below.

Initially an anonymous production handle, LA-4A is the alter ego of Berlin-based expat Kevin McHugh (aka Ambivalent) – a past affiliate of Richie Hawtin‘s Minus label.

McHugh launched his own Delft imprint in 2013, which has released a number of his own productions – including ‘Invader’ and ‘Triad’ – as well as material from Mor Elian, Alden Tyrell and Physical Therapy.

‘Slackline’ is the standout on one of the strongest releases of 2018 so far, with the undulating acid techno of ‘Punishment’, festival anthem in the making ‘Creased’ and abstract rework ‘Decreased’ all also impeccable.

Prolific Sheffield-based label CPU has been pivotal to the recent rise of electro with releases by iconic figures from the scene like Silicon Scally and Neil Landstrumm, as well as newer artists including Maelstrom and 96 Back (the latter recently delivering a blistering DJ Mag Fresh Kicks mix).

Martyn releases new album ‘Voids’, his first for Ostgut Ton

‘Voids’ is in a few ways markedly different than previous Martyn records; it features no guest appearances or collaborations and at 9 tracks, is musically stripped down to the essentials. It’s also a highly personal take on forging new paths forward in genres where the Berghain/Panorama Bar resident has long been known for his production wizardry and innovation: post-dubstep and UK garage.

The LP is roughly split between these musical foundations, recontextualized with elements of Nyabinghi, drum ‘n‘ bass, and gqom to form snarling, bass-driven hybrids. The direction was hinted at last November on his ‘GL Outtakes’ – reworks of his landmark 2009 album ‘Great Lengths’. In contrast however, ‘Voids’ is also an attempt to work through personal trauma and loss, including recovering from a heart attack and dealing with the passing of close friend and fellow producer Marcus Intalex aka Trevino, to whom the track “Manchester” is dedicated.

The sound of ‘Voids’ is big and unapologetically rough around the edges. It is music as therapy, drawing on the healing elements of music past, but is far from retrospective. Indeed, Martyn is no stranger to electronic futurism, as his numerous solo productions for Ostgut Ton, Dolly, Hyperdub, Brainfeeder, Ninja Tune, Warp and his own 3024 label (run together with visual collaborator Jeroen Erosie) have shown. On ‘Voids’, however, these futuristic sonic qualities coalesce into something darker, more biographical and untethered from expectations.

Italian dj/producer and label owner,  Ràkale takes us back in time with his new track  'Adjusting Code' out on February 14, 2019  through his self titled label “RÀKALE” .

Rakale experiments crossing funk, broken beat and techno to deliver this 80’s inspire track that is sure to set any dance floor on fire. A variety of pop synths carry this whole track giving it the life and energy it needs to give you goosebumps as you listen. 

Early support from heavy hitter such as Ame, Eagles & Butterflies, and Fabrizio Mammarella.

Safe to say that this will be roaming track will be making appearances on many dance floors around the world in 2019.

There’d been a change in the atmosphere, you could feel it in the air without even drawing the curtains. Thunderous storms had torn through the forest, ravaging the trees and forcing all inhabiting creatures back into their hiding places. The rain had since cleared, but the winds remained until sunrise, wreaking havoc under the veil of darkness.

214 has built a reputation for his finely crafted electro, notching up releases for labels like CPU, Shipwrec, Frustrated Funk and Cultivated Electronics over the last decade. Now he gears up for the release of his third studio album Exposure to Winds, which sees him draw from his experiences living in the remote town of North Bend, the setting for David Lynch's Twin Peaks. The 8-track LP, underpinned by 214's relationship with nature and his isolated way of living, takes influence from the roots of electro channeled through his natural surroundings, which results in a timeless collection of electronic music.
