On our way back to Madrid, we’re glad to welcome on board one of those tireless music activists on the national scene, Redwan Chakrani (@redwan). Like many of us, he embarked on the electronic universe as an eager clubber in his hometown Barcelona in the early 2000s and has not stopped loving music since then. Nowadays he’s one of the heads of Trauma (@trauma-collective), a collective and label focused on the most authentic versions of leftfield techno. Yet, on this occasion, he offers a top-of-the-line electro selection bringing classics and present-day tracks together, from a sentimental approach to a more mental one. Enjoy it!

I am honored to welcome Milan Hermess next on Haus Nummer 11. 

Milan is a true music freak and vinyl lover with over a decade of DJing experience and co-runs the ever evolving Mechatronica, a Berlin-based record label, promoter and collective founded in 2012. 

Heavily influenced by the West Coast Sound of Holland and Berlin’s nightlife culture, his mixes touch upon all genres within alternative dance music. For HN11, he cooked up a thrilling mix of moody soundscapes, heavy percussion, trippy rollers and a pinch of classy electro.

Valeriya Buturlya started her DJ career in 2015 as a fan of deep house, nu-disco, deep techno and tech house sounds.
The nickname Tendresse Rage, which she chose in French, means love for a combination of different styles, sounds, bright transitions between a delicate motive and a hard rhythm, and is literally translated as "tenderness-fury".
Valeria has been choreographing for 15 years - this period of her life reflects today's emotional power of music in sets. In 2018, Valeria finds herself in the field of electro-breakbeat styles, bringing her into a state of euphoria and deep exploration of new musical paths.
Thanks to this, compilations are born, which were released by such platforms as: Dark Science electro, Back side slice, Unusual Systems. Annie Hall - Memories That Never Happened

Annie Hall returns to Sheffield’s Central Processing Unit label with an EP entitled Memories That Never Happened. This record represents the producer’s third time on CPU after 2016’s Tenured Positions and 2020’s Fum, and it is also the latest release in a busy couple of years for Annie Hall which have also seen her drop EPs on 20:20 Vision, Orson Records and Random Island. The momentum Annie Hall has built up in recent times carries through to a dynamic collection of productions which bring enough heft in the beats to keep the dancefloor happy while also including all manner of details in the production.

Memories That Never Happened begins with the title-track, a twitchy yet wistful cut which perfectly matches its name. There’s bite to the broken-beat electro pulse, growling bass and robotic declamations of “it’s Annie”, but the makeup of the track is simultaneously rather rose-tinted, particularly when some chemtrails of a synth lead enter later on. The overall effect is as thoughtful as it is stimulating, akin to the halcyon productions of Daniel Avery.

If ‘Memories That Never Happened’ is somewhat plaintive, following jam ‘Problematic Tape Recorder’ has the bit between its teeth from the get-go. The beat crashes and snaps, and when played off shimmering stabs of synth it all adds up to a Wip3out rush that nods to both the old Rephlex Records sound as well as contemporary practitioners like Nightwave. Once again the synth lead is used lightly here, more an augmentation to the beat than the centrepiece - another demonstration of Annie Hall’s ability to write with focus even when the overall intent is to move bodies in the club.

The energy of ‘Problematic Tape Recorder’ is spun in an unusual direction on ‘Subsequent Experiments’, the first track of Memories That Never Happened’s B-side. This cut may be the quickest on the record, but this does not mean it shouts the loudest. Indeed, ‘Subsequent Experiments’ may be the most ornate production here, full of shadowy sonics and a deconstructed beat running at D&B speed. A kind of shadowrealm version of Planet Mu’s early drill & bass explorations crossed with UVB-76’s darkside post-Metalheadz excursions, this one is an eerie thrill.

After the busy ‘Subsequent Experiments’, Annie Hall slows down to take the EP’s home straight at mid-tempo. On ‘Unparalleded Comfort’, keyboard stabs slide over a rhythm that’s at once driving enough for the dancefloor and nuanced enough to allow little half-melodies of synth to flit around above. It’s a fitting closer for this EP, almost playing like an amalgamation of the elements which made the rest of Memories That Never Happened so appealing.

Annie Hall returns to Central Processing Unit with Memories That Never Happened, an EP of masterful productions which will delight both clubbers and home-listeners.

Exclusive: Farren Laen - A Word Spoken

Created in the northern hemisphere of the planet, in-between Canada and the US, New Yorker Farren Laen releases the first EP, Attention Renders Our Reality, on the newly founded imprint Laen Disc. Farren's second label – Laen is the co-founder of 00:AM too  - he's involved with kicks off its discography with a drum beat containing out of three tracks and covering the artists mainly deep but multifacted side in (sound) details. The EP opener This World is followed by Laen's most melodic approach on the EP: A Word Spoken. Latter starts with mumbling vocals, which sound as if they were echoing through a didgeridoo. With the vocals fading slowly in and out of the track they also serve as an introduction for the listener or rather a first glimpse of Acid-ish bleeps which in the following are alternating with (deeper) synth chords that are enriched with various effects throughout the track and are carried by a super lush bass line. A Word Spoken sounds like the perfect continuous moment put into sound sequences masterfully arranged that the track surrounds one so softly like clouds planet.
