Babelshack is an authentic progression from the post-punk, hard-edged 90s. Each member has a degree in music and unique impact on the overall sound—something the Albuquerque Weekly Alibi refers to as “side trails of new musical territory.” Influences from reggae, to punk, to jazz, to hard-rock weave cohesively into a visceral soundtrack. Barnaby Hazen’s masterfully crafted lyrics and dynamic vocals range from vulnerable to passionate, to downright psychopathic. 

Performance credits include opening for Billy Bob Thornton's Boxmasters in Santa Fe and Taos, NM; tours of Colorado (e.g. Pinky's in Denver and The Foundry in Boulder); Texas (e.g. Ego's in Austin, The Cover in San Antonio), Arizona (Casa Blanca Nightclub in Phoenix), and countless New Mexico venues in Santa Fe and Albuquerque: Santa Fe Brewing, Warehouse 21, Club Alegria, Burt's Tiki Lounge, the Atomic Grille, University of New Mexico's outdoor venue and more.
