A Singapore-registered vessel called the MS X-Press Pearl was heading from Gujarat, India to Colombo when a fire broke out on May 20, 2021, it was nine nautical miles off the coast of Sri Lanka. The vessel was carrying 1,486 containers, 81 of which contained "dangerous goods", including 25 tons of nitric acid (the remaining chemicals on board the vessel have not yet been confirmed). The vessel also carried 378 tons of oil and 78 tons of plastic pellets on board (some of them spilled into the ocean and began eroding the coastline, killing wildlife and damaging sensitive ecosystems).

Environmentalists in Sri Lanka said that this is one of the worst environmental disasters in the history of the country / idian ocean ...

When electronic ambient music meets spoken word... 

I wrote this poem inspired by the international symposium on soundscape in Lugano, October 2023. The theme this year was how sound creations and listening practices can help us shape better futures for human and more-than-human life.

"Ascoltaci - Listen to us

Lisssstening... with our hearts wide open.
We are here to dream of sonic futures with a reverence for life.
We are here to re-imagine the rewilding of our ears.
We are here to get lost soundscapes yet to find each other.

Streaming from different localities, we embarked on a quest seeking the humming of the land, the hissing of the skies and the clicking in the waters.
In our rush for birdsongs going extinct, so much quicker than we can grasp, we hush.
Trying to make sense of the evermore silence of our biosphere while our everyday seems to get louder and louder.

The storms we play on tape echo the cataclysmic challenges of our times.
Meanwhile our clever machines try to capture what defies our hearing range: the ultra, the infra, the invisible, the beyond, the below and the between.
We have even designed artificial intelligences that are starting to decode the languages of bees and bats.

Our cables plugged into secretive mycelium and our hydrophones intruding rock pools and ponds,
We are the gifted curators of the polyphony of our Mother.
Yet, as a species, we have created so much noise that we can't seem to truly listen when her children cry and scream and die.

But some of us do.
Those who haven't let go of a sense of wonder for this beautiful and complex world.
Those of us who pay attention to frequencies and vibrations.
Those of us who attempt to make the planet’s gentlest voices heard despite our physical limitations.

And so our dreams grow bigger and our acoustic calls reach further: we listen, we listen, we listen.

What do you hear, child of the Earth?"

In our democratic societies, the principle of accountability for crimes is fundamental. However, in a perplexing contrast, our home, Earth, faces continuous attacks and harm with impunity. Over the years The Hague has seen many protests by environmental and climate activists such as Greenpeace and Extinction Rebellion, but governments and the EU itself are struggling to implement urgent changes.

Gracia Alcaide has invited former member of Parliament from the Partij voor de Dieren, Lammert van Raan to talk about the Ecocide Bill that was submitted to the Dutch Parliament in November last year.

DJ Nanda (CL) has worked in almost any field in the underground music world. Whether it's production, photography or DJing, she established herself a woman of great passion and vigor, nurturing and caring for things many others often neglect. It started as roadie for heavy metal/punk rock bands, after as art director for films, production work for advertising, films and tv shows .. all down in Chile and eventually evolved into event production and the formation of Dreamvibe; art collective responsible for pioneering in the local chill out scene and also producers of Earthdance Chile between 1996 - 2001.
Nanda moved to Germany in 2002 to became part of the VooV Festival (VuuV-Experience) team and for 12 seasons she was in charge of the Chillout Stage (later on Alternative Floor). In 2003 she became an Interchill Records representative, but in 2005 she moved to Sweden and started working for Chillosophy Music as a Label Manager and A&R.
Since 2007 is settled in Denmark and runs Wildbro (cultural managements and human rights).
Her chill out sets strike with simplicity, raw emotion and a clear focus on cohesive story telling.

"She blends ambient and dub to downbeat, electronica, deep, electro and minimal. Crossing genre-borders with the emphasis on the special character of each tune - She takes the listener on an ever-evolving journey through the eclectic world of music."

DJ Nanda (CL) ha trabajado en casi cualquier campo del mundo de la música underground. Ya sea como productora, fotógrafa o DJ, se ha consolidado como una mujer de gran pasión y vigor, que se ocupa de cosas que muchos otros suelen descuidar. Comenzó como roadie para bandas de heavy metal/punk rock, después como directora de arte para películas, trabajo de producción para publicidad, películas y programas de tv... todo en Chile y eventualmente evolucionó hacia la producción de eventos y la formación de Dreamvibe; colectivo artístico responsable de ser pionero en la escena chill out local y también productores de Earthdance Chile entre 1996 - 2001.

Nanda se trasladó a Alemania en 2002 para formar parte del equipo del VooV Festival (VuuV-Experience) y durante 12 temporadas estuvo a cargo del escenario chillout (posteriormente Alternative Floor). En 2003 se convirtió en representante de Interchill Records, pero en 2005 se mudó a Suecia y empezó a trabajar para Chillosophy Music como Label Manager y A&R del sello. Desde 2007 ella vive en Copenhague, Dinamarca y dirige Wildbro (gestión cultural y derechos humanos).
Sus sets se caracterizan por la sencillez, la emoción cruda y un claro enfoque en la narración de las historias.
