The unassuming maestro of techno music Donato Dozzy returns to Tresor Records on its 30th year with a new EP entitled 124. The record follows a majestic appearance on the Tresor 30 anniversary compilation and his expert devotion to the Roland TB-303, Filo Loves The Acid. True to form, 124 meddles sharp rhythmic minimalism and diverse textures, each track pushing at the epiphanic threshold as the boss of Spazio Disponibile allows his deeply intuitive productions to take effect.

The EP's opening track "messy kafka world" introduces a frenetic and concentrated atmosphere of rhythmic forces, hallucinatory and euphoric in effect. Its dizzying staccato loops are given structure by strengthening beats and bleak synthetic pillars. 

124 represents Donato Dozzy ever-expanding his powers and musical freedom. His innate groove and inventive sound design push minimal and serene techno with a substantial weight and voice that sets him apart from others.

Berlin’s Avilynn delivers the ‘Five Million Sunsets’ EP this December, accompanied by a remix from Ostgut Ton’s Answer Code Request.

As a follow-up to the debut EP on Taisha entitled Anaesthesia, Avilynn is back with another dynamic four track EP in the shape of ‘Five Million Sunsets’. Once again showcasing Avilynn’s diverse production style across three originals, while Techno titan Answer Code Request turns in an interpretation employing his typically twisted and intricate style.

‘Why So Serious’ opens the project and focuses on dynamically evolving and unfurling drums, plucked synths and modulating percussion while expansive reverberations and nuanced echoes further instil dynamism throughout. Answer Code Request steps up next, shifting the focus to an industrial feel aesthetically,
twisting elements of the original’s synthesis and high-octane drums into an ominous, subtly unfolding take on things.

Opening the flip-side is title-cut ‘Five Million Sunsets’ which sees Avilynn explore a more textural landscape, dropping the tempo significantly and introducing circling dub chords, earthy sub tones and menacing bass swells throughout. Last up to round out the release is ‘Your Eye Was Bigger Than The Other One’, here Avilynn focuses her musical theme around “a trippy experience where the person has a distorted reality’’, the composition laid out across three and a half minutes melds together choppy broken drums, eerie tones and bubbling synths alongside gritty distorted moments and metallic chimes.

Throughout the last couple of years, Medellín, Colombia's second largest city, has slowly been emerging a unique handful of producers shaped by the city's mystic mountains. Born and raised in the middle of one of the world's most renowned hostile environments, these sonic hustlers have found the perfect ingredients to cook some of the most solid and intriguing electronic music in the current South American landscape.

This can clearly be proved in Medellín Rave Society, the fourth assault from Colombian label Insurgentes. On its first VA EP, Verraco and Defuse gathers some of the city's most defiant artists, for an open techno letter directly delivered from the Aburrá Valley. A-side is pure sci-fi from the mountain, with local heavyweight Merino's "Ode To You" leading you deep in a forest where hissing hi-hats, broken beats and warmful chords give life to a vivid soundscape; while Black Propaganda's "I'm My Biggest Enemy" doesn't hesitate in creating a feeling of altered consciousness, where modular electric shocks throw yourself in an inner machine state of mind. 

On the other hand, B-side offers straight redemption. The Baker's aka Astronomical Telegram "Of Gold And Bitter Bread" brings back the serenity, with sharp textures that slowly rebuild the lost spirit, allowing label head Verraco to open the celestial gate with "Entry Of The Gods Into Aburrá", a raw IDM breakbeat piece that heals the wounds of a beaten city and marks the beginning of a new chapter in colombian electronic music scene.

Medellín sonic insurgency at it's best.

In light of the current Covid-19 Pandemic Studio Enisslab headed up by Italian DJ / Producer and Live Act Neel has announced the release of a very special 56 track charity compilation project, fundraising for The Red Cross, who are working extremely hard alongside health services internationally that are feeling the effects of the corona-virus outbreak the most right now. The compilation is available for a limited time via Bandcamp and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Red Cross to help the world’s most affected countries in the Covid-19 pandemic.

This special release features over 6 hours of previously unreleased and unheard material, where an all star cast of artists were encouraged to share music that reflects this time we are living in.

Neel, who is one half of live duo Voices From The Lake, and LF58 speaks out on behalf of the initiative, organised in collaboration with improvised live project Circle Of Live, and visual art collective Sbagliato. He explains:

“In this situation we all need to look after each other and this project is a start. I wanted to reach as many people as possible to spread this message, so I started to share the idea personally with lots of artists and the response was amazing. I wanted them to take their time with whichever tools they had available at home to produce some music that reflects this time we are living in, a contribution for this special project and to portray a special message.”

The project’s cover art image brought to you by visual art collective Sbagliato shows pictures of windows of houses and studios taken by the artists themselves: 56 musicians, 56 windows, 56 tracks shape a new place of sharing.

DJ Deep returns to Tresor with his new EP ‘Fosph’, his first release on the label since 2015. In the time between then and now, the Deeply Rooted boss has been particularly active, from b2b DJ sets with Jeff Mills, his work as part of the duo Sergie Rezza, to his newly released jazz-house remixes of Cotonete. Listening to his mixes, which regularly spin from essential Chicago and Detroit house sounds, through blends of Afro-percussion and dub reveals an ear sensitively tuned to the ground searching stories through music.

‘Fosph’ proves an EP of real mastery that exudes techno, its drive, phasing patterns and melodic minimalism. ‘Swamps’ opens the record with a jungle cacophony, its rhythms dipping and diving on a ritualistic sequence - judiciously lean, biting and expressive. ‘Tommy’ is an exercise in solo TR-909, the less-is-more machine repetitions that journey unceasingly - sure to be a crucial drum tool. 

‘Utrecht’ hints at an expansive 90s ambient sound, imbuing analogue static with synthetic cries and meanderings. 'Escape' takes these sonic outposts, and goes even further. Its resonant drums propelling into action a pendulum of organic expressionism, rising into flight from its dusty origins. EP closer ’Demonstration’ is a clear example of DJ Deep's love for machine funk. An old-school banger doing just enough, its playful off-beat excursions and effective one-word sample recall a certain Midwestern directness.
