@echowoman808 comes from Mexico City and currently lives in Berlin. She has been playing records since the mid 90’s and producing her own tracks since 2005. Echowoman is interested in music in general and does not limit herself to just one style. She loves digging for music and finding things she likes in a wide range of genres. In the past years she has been particularly inspired by faster, much heavier rhythms like electro and  drum’n’bass as you can hear in this mix. We are ecstatic to present the first show of our new Sesiones FM series! With so many different genres melded together, "Riddim Fernandez" LP (named after the artist himself) is a polished project, which doesn’t do any of the genres a disservice. Released on the amazing Canadian label Woodwork Recordings, Fernandez's latest albums further cements the producer as an exciting talent. We can confidently say that this is yet again another fine addition to Woodwork Recording’s evolving catalogue and aesthetic.

Beginning with his Slip Hop EP released early in 2020, Riddim Fernandez has delivered a constant barrage of fresh productions, fusing Hip Hop, Jungle, Dubstep, Dancehall, and Downtempo into his own unique blend of Bass Music. With laser focus on trippy atmospherics, mangled bass, fluid abstract vocal edits, lush chord structures, and of course impeccable rhythmic variations, Riddim Fernandez switches the feel through half time and double time at will, exploring a wide variety of beats and tempos.

Released in two volumes, this self-titled double LP summarizes the series of all six EP releases to date, while adding a handful of new beats to complete a staggering spread of innovative dubs.

SFM001 - Riddim Fernandez Album Mix [Woodwork Recordings]

The EON label's fourth vinyl release features an original from Birmingham producer Jayson Wynters with Chicago innovator Hieroglyphic Being on the remix.

Wynters - who along with label founder Adam Shelton has been at the heart of the Birmingham scene for years - has already impressed this year with his biggest EP yet on mighty Dutch label Delsin. Here he invites us ever deeper into his nebulous deep techno world with a superb new single 'Filtered Xploits.' It's a punchy but dynamic cut with lush ambient pads smeared across a cosmic sky while chattery percussion and lithe synth power onwards. It has a futuristic soul that recalls early Detroit techno and might be his best work yet.

Both Shelton and Wynters have long shared a love for the idiosyncratic sounds of Chicagoan Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being, the hugely prolific boss of Mathematics Recordings. He was one of the first artists they bonded over five or so years ago and that love only deepened when they caught him playing a standout set at Freerotation in 2017. After hooking up there, Jayson later hung out with Moss on a visit to Chicago before tapping him up for this remix.

In his hands, 'Filtered Xploits' becomes a brilliantly raw and textured track with layer upon layer of fractured melody and gurgling acid. The prickly, jacked up drums will make an impact on any floor, and as the chords shine through the mix they bring a sense of hope and optimism.

These are two more expertly crafted tracks from artists at the top of their game.

Tokyo's Shun joins Woodwork with an explosive folio of ballistic electro jams.

Kicking off with 'Mista', Shun crafts an impeccable sequence of hits and snips. Air tight percussion locks in with filter sample & hold, ducking through carefully orchestrated gaps, giving this opening track a rapid and punchy energy throughout.

Aggressive robotics take over as 'Shade' kicks off. The relentless repetition under spiky FM synth cycles perfectly, setting up a frantic electro-nitrogen boosted B section. The track coasts out with variations and combinations that continually push further and funkier.

'70%' is pure science. This is one indisputable tough break swaggering hard against a sectional noise burst synth line. The riff is dark enough but calls out serious action for the floor. Tight breathers and momentary breakdowns keep resetting the intensity with a little more heat each time.

Shun lights up the final note with 'Replay'. All the goods are supplied here. A non-stop pumping analog drum synth works it from the first to the last beat. Phazed out strings, a hard bass meltdown, and bionic fx receive a thorough rinsing with constant variation and intensity.
