   This Mix is Lovingly dedicated to Frankie Knuckles, a Beloved Friend, who touched my Soul & my Heart in magical ways.  His Sensuality, his Sensibility, his Elegance, his Soul, his Beauty, his Sweetness, his Smartness, his Brightness, his Kindness, his Sense of Humour, his Love for Life, his Passion were in every single note of his Magnificent Music. Frankie was such a Gentleman. Moments with him were always priceless. I am so lucky to have met such a Wonderful  & Dazzling Person in my life. Things won't be the same anymore...

This super fun Mix was totally inspired by Dr Packer's amazing ReWork of Loleatta Holloway's Classic 1976 Disco jam "Hit and Run!" I've been playing that Rework for days on in since it was released a couple of weeks ago. I decided to play it with a few of my other favorite Disco and Dance inspired Edits. Believe me when I tell you, I was dancing like crazy while playing these tunes in my studio. I really hope you guys get your dance on too!!! (Enjoy)

Soulful Reflections

Welcome to the Word Is Love Show and on the show it's a celebration of the Godfather of Dance music itself David Mancuso.

David invented the first "by invitation only" parties in New York City with the very first party "Love Saves The Day" in 1970 that went on to become The Loft. 

The show is the first part of 2 shows that celebrates the 50th anniversary of "Love Saves The Day".

Being thrown down is classic Disco, Funk, Rare Groove, Latin and Soul, plus a selection of Worldwide delights that David used to play.

Expect classic tracks by Earth Wind & Fire, Mr. Fingers, James Brown, Central Line and Eddy Grant. 

The mix was performed 'Shooting from The Hip', a style of cut mixing and blend mixing to give it that extra authenticity.

All tracks are selected and mixed by @thefunkassassin

David Mancuso The Loft The Word Is Love Show 32 Funky Disco R&B Soul Funk House Groove Latin Dance

It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
