Jazz musician Gary Bartz has a classic song from way back in 1977 that says" Music is my sanctuary, music is my life." I've always loved that jam but I understand what Mr. Bartz was talking about now more than ever. Music is definitely my "Sanctuary."  The crazier things seem to get out here, the deeper I find myself diving into this music. I said all of that to say that "Volume 10" probably shouldn't be dropping so soon after "VS9" but I literally woke up in the middle of the night thinking about some of these tunes (I had to Play). While this set has some classic anthems, it's also sprinkled with an eclectic 'newbie' here or there. "This Can't Be Life" is one of those songs that's been playing over and over in my head since I received it a couple of weeks ago. This lyrics deserve at least a second listen and Swaylo's voice is simply divine. The tunes got little "Deeper" in the middle of the mix and towards the end we had to venture to the old "Shelter" in NYC with the help of Joe Claussell and Quentin Harris' amazing remixes. I hope you all enjoy the music...

Talk about moving when the spirit of music hit you! I was running some errands yesterday and I had to rush home and jump on the turntables. (LOL) This "Pop-Up" Mix sticks to my normal vinyl format, mixing Soulful, Deep, African Rhythms and Jazzy vibes all in one. I hope I didn't get too Jazzy towards the end but I kind of felt like I was at an outdoor concert in my hometown of Detroit from back in the day when I dropped that Billy Cobham remix (Woowee). Volume twelve also features a couple of classics by the amazing Peven Everett and Underground bangers from Roberta and Joe Claussell to only name a few. Wow, I want to Thank You guys so much for all of your support for 2021. You guys listened to my YouTube channel over 1.2 million times this year from every corner of the globe. I like many of you had a couple of challenges this year but as we know, Music continues to be a "safe space" and an incredible sanctuary.  This is my last mix of the year and I guess its fitting that its a Vinyl Sessions set. As you can see vinyl has me totally "Hooked" like I was when I first started playing records growing up in Detroit in the early 80's. This is my 8th "VS" mix this year, (LOL) that's a lot of wax but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Vol. 13 starts out with an all time classic "You Used to Hold Me" by Chicago legend: Ralphi Rosario, brought back to life on 7" by Kai Alce and DJ Spinna. (Whew) There are also bangers from Monique Bingham, Louie Vega and a couple from Peven Everett to name a few and I ended it with some "Life Music" from my homie Gari Romalis. This mix was so fun to make and I really hope you guys enjoy it makes you smile. Ok enough is enough, Let's Dance!!!

This is my first mix of 2022 and of course its a Vinyl Session. As you guys can tell, I'm addicted to the vinyl all over again (LOL). "VS14" starts off with two of my all time favorites and two songs that truly convey a positive message that we can take with us throughout the year. "In Time" reminds us that all things are working together for our good. And "Days Like This" simply reminds us to really appreciate each and every day that we are given. Each Vinyl Session seems to have a different vibe and some different twists and turns but they all are just so much fun to create. I never know where I'm going to end up musically speaking. It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
