Making mixes like this are a huge reason why after over 40 years I still do this DJ thing. I mean there are some songs in this set that are so very near and dear to my heart and the vibe I tried to create is totally positive and uplifting. One of my favorite young inspirational singers, Aaron K. Gray leads us off with his brand new gem: "Celebrate Your Life." Then the super talented, Angel-A and Russoul remind us to always live our best lives with their banger: "Your Best Life." And last but certainly not least, if you can get to the last song in this mix: "Live Your Life for Today" by Elements Of Life. Maaaaan let me tell you, I shed  tears of joy while playing this now classic. I probably never told you guys how much of a "Museum Junkie" I am. I absolutely love venturing down to different Museums and smaller Art Galleries around town and of course when I'm somewhere visiting. This set was totally inspired by my latest visits to the High Museum in Atlanta and The Pérez Art Museum right here in Miami where I snapped this photo of Glenn Ligon's artistic "Notes of a Poem on The Third World" (Electric Hands). It seems whenever I'm viewing the exhibits I always "hear" certain songs or beats that I would love to pair with those particular pieces of art. This mix features a few of those tunes that just immediately popped into my head: "Jazz Funk Freedom" by Ron Trent, "Coltrane" by Marc Tilley and "Track 9" by Atjazz were some. It's been nearly a year since my last "Vinyl Sessions" mix. Although I didn't get a chance to make it out to Record Store Day here in Miami the other day, I was able to play some vinyl records in the lab and I totally got inspired. The thing I like most about playing vinyl is that it's just so much fun and so very organic. Even with all of the cracks, the skips and the pops and all and don't mention the higher cost of vinyl and then trying to record video. (LOL) So many moving parts but I wouldn't give it up for anything. And to top it off you guys really seem to like seeing and hearing the "VS" sets and seeing how they are put together. It's truly a labor of love! Enjoy...

We've all heard the saying a million times "There's no place like Home" and while that is absolutely  true, I would also like to add the term "There's No Place Like The Dance Floor!" This four hour set was inspired to my latest visit to my hometown of Detroit. I got a chance to play 3 different gigs in a weeks span and see so many friends some I haven't seen in years, all on the dance floor. We laughed  and hugged and reminisced while listening to our beloved House Music! Ahhh, what a time we had. I got a chance to play many of these songs, so I tried to recreate this mix with a more animated and "Live" feeling. Longer transitions and a few more "tricks" with the box. As always I added a few of my favorites as well as a few newbies. I hope you guys enjoy the music...

Another Soulful House Sessions #60

It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
