Terry Hunter launches 'We Are One' music project to unite city, spur action

Song, video aim to motivate new volunteers, attract resources for youth-serving organizations

September 12, 2013 (CHICAGO)—After the violent death of his young son’s friend earlier this year, Chicago house music producer and DJ Terry Hunter wanted to do something to not only express his grief and frustration, but to inspire people to act together for change. He’s hoping that the result, a new track, entitled ‘We Are One’ featuring “Slique” Jay Adams, becomes an anthem and a movement that improves communities.

Hunter will release the song via his T’s Box Records label on September 17 via Traxsource. We Are One will donate 100 percent of the proceeds to organizations working with youth and those affected by violence, including Kids Off the Block, Chicago’s Citizens for Change and the Hadiya Pendleton Foundation. Hunter also is working to build relationships and partnerships between the organizations, local businesses and prospective volunteers.

“My hope is that ‘We Are One’ gets people moving, and gets them thinking about what’s happening in Chicago,” says Hunter. “More importantly, I hope it inspires them to translate their feelings into positive action in our neighborhoods.” Please Support & Buy Link Is Below.

When I was a teenager growing up in Detroit I was totally obsessed with the band The Police! Of course I got into them with their smash hit "Roxanne" and their first two albums were amazing but it was the album "Zenyatta Mondatta" that totally sealed the deal for me and turned me into a lifelong fan. This song" "When The World is Running Down, You Make the Best of What's Still Around" seems an appropriate tune to play on somebody House inspired Dance Floor! (Enjoy)

I mean what more can you say about the amazing Chaka Khan that hasn't already been said. Chaka has one of the strongest singing voices ever in my opinion and I always love her style. In 1980 (The year I first fell in love with Dance Music) Chaka Khan released her now classic album "Naughty." And what an album it has become. Her song "Papillon" is still one of my all time fav's from her, but its this Ashford & Simpson gem that gets me every single time I hear it. Straight Fire! Besides Chaka's incredible energy on this song, the drums played by Steve Ferrone totally stood out to me. I didn't want to add too many extra sounds because I really wanted Steve's drums to stand out even more. I really hope you guys enjoy this Chaka Khan reboot and play it loud and often in 2023... Let's Dance!!!

Masters at Work have performed many nine hour sets at Soul Heaven and this cd by Little Louis Vega is an accurate reflection of those nights.

The first cd which is titled 'London' has a predominant focus towards vocal tracks and is highly melodic. It is a 74 minute house feast featuring 5 out of 5 stars for the best ever use of Accapela's, not to mention superb mixing and track selection.

The second cd is titled 'Ibiza' and has fewer vocal tracks than the 'London' cd. It has a distinct Afro-Latin vibe and is heavily percussion based. Including an awesome remix of 'Elle' by DJ Gregory which was one of the most popular house tracks of that year, it's a 79 minute mix that will be appreciated by fans of Deep, Afro-Latin influenced house.

The first suSU comp to hit the ground is without doubt, one of the very best. This cd comes highly recommended. Heaven – we say true class

I haven't really heard Will Downing's incredible voice on the Dance Floor since the late 80's early 90's with his upbeat take on John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" remixed by the legendary Arthur Baker. So when I heard Will's version of "Nights Over Egypt" one of my all time favorite tunes written by the jazzy Dexter Wansel and performed by (Detroit's own) The Jones Girls, I knew I had to put my DJ twist on it and get this song ready for the House Music Dance Floors in 2018 and beyond... It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
