As the dust finally begins to settle after the release of Pan-Pot's massive album 'The Other', it's time to unleash a collection of heavy hitting reworks from the best and brightest stars of todays techno elite. Through careful consideration and an acute attention to detail, we couldn't be more elated to confirm ten artists we know and love to contribute their unique vision to Second State's first ever remix package.

Kicking things off with a heavily twisted alteration of 'Attention' is Nicole Moudaber and it's a tangled, dark trek through dense acoustic layers of audible madness. Next up is the Hamburg duo

Extrawelt with their twist on 'Optimistic Grey' and they deliver a beautiful blend of emotion and groove they are synonymous for.

Following suit is another passionately romantic number from man of the hour, Stephan Bodzin, and his take feels like floating through a sea of clouds, resulting in a timeless classic to be a focal point in any set for years to come.

Next in line is Ray Kajioka's take on '808 Nirvana' and it's a cosmic ride, ripe with swirling atmospherics laid over big churning drums and rolling cymbals.

Following up on the second 12“ of this LP is a man who needs no introduction: Carl Cox. And in true Coxy fashion he turns 'Riot' into just that: a big room, tension building monster!

Broken Engine' is the next track to get worked over and Wigbert delivers a stunning mix of shimmering tones and growling bass resulting in a lush venture through a cosmic backdrop of flickering stars in deep space.

Joseph Capriati ensues with his vision of 'Fugitives' and he brilliantly keeps the vibe of the original yet adds his trademark big room flair to take it to another level of driving euphoria.

Enlisting the talents of Alan Fitzpatrick to remix one of the slower listening tracks on the album turned out to be magic. With his signature percussion, Fitzpatrick takes the parts and creates a dive deep into sultry smooth waters of seduction.

The first of our last two remixes, which are digital exclusives, come from Paul Ritch and he delivers a grinding rendition of 'Riot', expertly crafted for the more euphoric peak time occasions.

Last and certainly not least is a man on the rise, Kevin Knapp with his twist on his own collaboration with Pan-Pot: 'Get In'. An expertly crafted tech house jam exploding with energy and attitude perfect for any moment, day or night, indoors or out.

No matter the time or place, there is something here for everyone and we are truly fulfilled and honored to present this package of cutting edge artists to celebrate this landmark moment. We know you will enjoy!

Niels Van Gogh - Pulverturm (Tomcraft Remix & LeMa)

The April 2017 release of avant pop artist Sophia Kennedy’s self-titled album was a watershed moment for both the American-born artist and Pampa Records. Sophia Kennedy marked both the first singer-songwriter project for the Hamburg imprint, and the welcome debut of one of the most unique voices in German contemporary music. The symbiotic pairing is set to continue with a new 10” release from Sophia, as she continues to examine the art of leftfield song-crafting. In her hands nostalgic references and techniques are layered between off-the-wall arrangements, and while each composition is written in a unique musical lexicon, short repeating riffs and stanzas originating from keyboard and piano are her recurring motif of choice.

The tinny drum machine and lo-fi vocal treatment that open “Afraid”, originally written by the all time underground legend Nico, hints at a sparse DIY affair in Kennedy's version, but the song ingeniously matures in small increments. Sophia’s unmistakable voice increases in richness and becomes more dynamic line by line, as she sweeps through lullaby style verses. The affecting chorus of “You are beautiful, And you are loved,” matches the rawness of the song’s title, driving the emotion towards sumptuous orchestration before a final dissolve into electronic fizzes. The centre of “Being Special” is its trio of percussive piano riff, strings and handclaps, which warms the heart with a notable throwback cinematic feel, yet is juxtaposed against confessional lines such as “Being lonely makes you special, Being special makes you lonely too.” The quirky final song “Apple In The Basket” embodies a whirling circus carousel as reflected in a funhouse mirror. Staccato organ chords and rhyming word couplets enhance the eerie carnival imagery, turning things topsy-turvy and handing over the space usually reserved for a chorus to the climactic return of grotesquely distorted and organ chords.

Dimi Angelis is a pivotal element in european and universal techno scene, alone or teaming up with Jeroen Search his tunes has been around from quite a while and finally he is landing with a complete EP in Warm UP.

Dimi provides three energetic cuts, fast, dirty, futuristic and funky all at once. 

First cut Fluid Shifts is made of a distorted bassline, shuffled 909 hats and bleepy short sequences in a non stop arrangement. Note the synth hit that comes in and out from time to time. 

Following there is Hidden Figures, under the same path soundwise, alternating distortion with crispiness, this time a bleep tone is the main element, liying on top of a continuous and dirty bassline as well as the usual 909 hat action. Another torpedo that will sink many boats on a proper dancefloor.

Closing the release comes Spinoff, again in the same sound parameters combining overdrive with clean elements, dirty bass frequencies again, clear kicks, 808 hatas and nothing else, just hypnosis, reduction and repetition.

In this times when everybody souds the same, it’s good to have original maker like Dimi, providing the right stuff for those who know.

Bragolin is a Post-punk / Dark Wave band from Utrecht, The Netherlands. The band is lead by singer/guitarist Edwin van der Velde of Zwarte Poëzie. The music contains a mixture of bariton and shoegaze guitars, organ, synths and drummachines. Their first album and music videos will be released on Young & Cold Records in spring/summer 2018.
