For this month's edition I invited the talented @madmiran ~ Miran channeled the Aquarius fizzing and floating energies around this full moon. A personal healing journey that brings shivers to your ears. 

The Aquarius Full Moon this month carries a naturally healing energy, inspiring us to spend some time nourishing our spirit and paying attention to any wounds or heaviness we may be carrying.

This full moon will help you activate innate healing powers and allows you to work on the seven major energy centers to restore balance, harmony, and a sense of peace.

Following her mesmerizing performance at last month's Junction 2 Inner City event, Bristol based DJ, illustrator and all round creative @danielle_dj takes the reins of mix number 21 in the Junction 2 series.

Drawing inspiration from her dad’s expansive record collection meant Danielle caught the music bug and bagan crate digging early on, eventually becoming a self-taught DJ. Landing a job at the famed Phonica records, where she worked for 10 years, Danielle further advanced and refined her knowledge of the ever-growing and far reaching realm of electronic music, allowing her to forge a well informed and enviable track selection behind the decks. Additionally, Danielle has also been a resident on NTS Radio since 2017. Alongside this, she regularly mentors at the popular Bristol-based DJ workshop Mix Nights, giving her the opportunity to impart her invaluable knowledge to the next generation. 

Nominated for best breakthrough DJ in 2020 by DJ Mag, Danielle has played on some of the biggest festival stages including Glastonbury, Dimensions, Kala and Love Saves The Day, as well as clubs like DC10, fabric, Oval Space, Pickle Factory and Ohm. Her far-reaching understanding of music, and commitment to diverse sounds, is reflected in this all-encompassing mix, in which breakbeat, electro, jungle and everything in between are stitched eloquently together.

Lee Gamble is one of the most adventurous producers, label bosses and DJs in the electronic world. Over the course of four album projects and many EPs he has explored the ghost of jungle, abrasive ambient and textural techno in thrilling and compelling ways. Formerly releasing on Pan, he now heads up his own UIQ label and with it has curated some of techno’s most exciting new sounds. As well as DJing, he is behind a regular NTS radio show and tours a mesmeric live A/V show that always encourages you to escape and get lots in unfamiliar musical worlds. 

The two hour mix he serves up for is the freaky, left of centre post-rave adventure you would expect. It’s disorientating and non linear. Initially it focuses on texture and mood more than groove, then his jungle roots bubble up, and just as you think you know where you are going, Gamble pulls back and descends into bleak cinematic soundtracks. Unpredictable and wilfully contrary, like his own challenging productions it is a masterclass in sonic subversion that reveals more with each new listen.

In 2016 I was invited to contribute to Red Bull Radio’s Headphone Highlights series of programmes. I chose to make a radio show exploring a piece of writing about music that had a monumental impact on my teenage self. Kodwo Eshun’s More Brilliant Than The Sun collapsed together every form of Black music from the second half of the 20th century and in it’s prose did what the dj’s that I loved did. It erased the boundaries our understanding of things so often erect. In the show I read excerpts around some of the key music and link them to personal experiences. Due to rights agreements it is currently unavailable through the RB Radio site so I have posted it here.

For Walking & Falling October's installment, we bring you a mix from Brooklyn-based DJ Lychee. This recording is a set they performed at Nowadays :)

A DJ, writer, and event organizer, Lychee (they/them) runs Spontaneous Affinity, a monthly mix and interview series, annual zine, and occasional event platform focused on how dancefloors have shaped artists. Most recently, they released a zine, "Behind the Party", focusing on the experience of workers in the dance music industry during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With a very slow build of industrial and ambient tones, Lychee weaves their way through tunes effortlessly. By the second half they pick up the pace, having us longing for the dance floor with bouncy techno grooves. It's a collage of sounds that we hope you all will dig!

Shed is arguably one of the most diverse electronic music makers of our times and clearly one of our favorites.
Since his first release in 2004 on Delsin, followed by several albums on Ostgut Ton and his own Soloaction imprint, René Pawlowitz has established himself as one of the best contemporary techno artists and delivered essential releases on labels like 50 Weapons, Monkeytown, XL Recordings, Warp Records, Tectonic and Power House.
René is a raver at heart with a penchant for broken beats, which he expresses through various monikers such as Head High, WK7 and The Higher, to name a few.
With his latest project Hoover1, he has stepped deeper into jungle/drum bass territory.
Counting four releases so far, Hoover1 offers essential bass music that ranges from jungle to dnb to hardcore breaks. 
After smashing the Low_End Collective dance floor back in October, we are proud to present you the first ever Hoover1 mix, an one hour trip down the jungle, dnb, hardcore breaks and bass lane - we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Amen!
