We indeed miss the most those we too often take for granted. At least I do.
Everyone is missing someone they somehow thought would never go away, or at least not so soon.

This song is about the war in Israel, from the time a soldier is called-up for duty to protect his land, and him paying the ultimate price for his/her service. It's also a song about those who are affected by the loss of the solider who is not coming home. Produced/Arranged by Steve Duffie, John M Horner. I am beside myself with joy to honour the memory of my high school bestie Dan Wayne Dunlop (October 4, 1957 – November 17, 2012), by re-recording, producing and publishing his original song "Young Love".  Dan and I first met in junior high school and became the best of friends in high school.  We were bad, had tons of fun and jammed together often for many years.  Known by many names, Dan, Big Mouth or the Baron of Barrie, he loved the Barrie, Ontario community and its people. He felt at home in Barrie and even recorded a song, an ode to his adopted City of Barrie.  Dan, as an entertainer extraordinaire, was best known for hosting the comedy skit-based TV show "Big Mouth" winning a Rogers Television Award in 2005 as best on-air personality.  Dan, AKA "FastManDan," wrote "Young Love" in the late 1970s. He recorded it on a cassette player using a drum machine, his guitar, and, of course, his vocals. My AI attempt to revive the recording from my cassette copy didn't work out, so I decided to re-record the song. The great thing is I couldn't be more pleased with the results, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!  In many ways, Dan was my mentor.  I admired and took inspiration from his independent nature, courage, talent and outstanding determination.  A born comedian and later a cartoonist, singer, songwriter, guitarist, Impressionist, puppeteer, exotic pet handler, film producer, radio talk show host, cameraman and film editor,  Dan was one dynamite entertainer and a hilarious prankster!  Just as important was his good nature and big heart.  Dan truly cared about the well-being of others and was not afraid to show you that side of himself.  Dan influenced and affected many people's lives, and all are grateful to have known this man. I miss him very much and crack a smile whenever I think of the good times we had together.  As much as a man can love a man, I loved Dan – rest in peace, my great friend and brother!  Wow, is it not the coolest thing knowing that your spirit has a voice through this great tune of yours?

Numerical November is my third solo Extended Play (EP). The EP features a compilation of songs that was created spontaneously throughout the month of November, 2024. The genesis of this project was simply me writing new songs from a blank slate, naming each song-in-progress after a number, beginning with the number 1. 

After a few days, I realized that I was 8 songs in and decided to listen and reflect on each idea I started but had not yet finished. I found that most of the ideas were really good. From there, I completed the songs and decided to create an EP out of a some of them. 

In my personal and spiritual life, November of 2024 was a time of learning and awakening to angel numbers and numerology. I found myself noticing and encountering a variety of angel numbers which led me to explore more about numerology and ultimately, how mathematics, music and the universe are connected . 

Many of the songs that are feature on this project started as ideas that came to me spontaneously between the hours of 12am-3am. Most times, I was awakened out of my sleep at a time that reflected an angel number (3:33am, for example). This happened repeatedly until it didn't. At that point, I knew that I was done recording and could focus on editing, mixing, and finalizing the project in all the other necessary ways. 

I hope the music and the context of this project inspires you, positively evokes your curiosity about numerology and the relationship between math, music, and the universe. Ultimately, I hope it touches your heart.

The Nashville troubadour takes listeners on a journey to the heart of American music.

Mark Henes has spent years performing around Nashville’s music scene, cultivating a loyal following with his genre hopping, Americana influenced sound.  Now he is finally ready to formally introduce himself to the world with the release of his debut album “Crystallized Reflections,” which features thirteen stellar tracks that touch on everything from country and soul to punk.  

Lead single “Ghost Train” kicks things off.  A haunted ode to lost love, the song takes its influence from the outlaw country of the seventies, with a hard edged sound held together by Henes’ booming baritone.  Mark immediately starts to show his versatility as he switches gears on album highlight “I Pray, I Pray,” in which he is backed by a soulful horn section.  The acoustic guitar driven “The Underground” channels Johnny Cash.  “I am traveling to the north country,” he sings mournfully, as a string section sets the mood behind him.

There are many artists out there who can play multiple genres, but very few who can do it as convincingly as Henes.  This is best exemplified by “Strip Me Down,” in which the young songwriter shows off a completely different side of his artistry.  An energetic pop punk song that would sound right at home on the Warped Tour, it shows Mark at his most confrontational, with a hook that gets stuck in your head right away and stays there for weeks.

Across thirteen songs, Mark rarely repeats himself stylistically, but the entire album is held together by his commanding voice and thematic consistency.  On “Arm Full Of Roses,” he slows things down again, with a comforting ballad that might have sounded at home on vintage FM radio in the sixties.  The reverb heavy guitars and doo wop harmonies enhance the retro magic of the production, before giving way to chugging blues rock of “Death Was The Penalty,” in which Mark plays the role of convicted criminal as a wall of guitars provides the soundtrack for his getaway.

By the time Henes gets to album closer “Tennessee Hills,” with its old time fiddles and banjos, the listener gets the sense they’ve spent the past hour or so driving slowly across the middle of the country, exchanging stories and songs with a childhood friend.  “Crystallized Reflections” is a truly one of a kind album from an artist who is just getting started on his musical journey.
