…so I'm back once again with my annual Hip Hop round up. It's always hard to try and fit in my favourites amongst the usual big hitters, so this year I decided to go all out and extend the mix to 3 hours… Yep, 180 minutes…

Again, it's been another interesting year, with loads of great music from all spectrums of the genre… As usual, some of the more obvious club tracks are not on the mix, but it's not about putting together a generic selection of the same club tracks that every other DJ is rinsing… Because that sucks… As a result, there's definitely something for everyone on this mixtape.

…So, whether you're wasting time on the PS4, admiring that widescreen TV that you copped in the Black Friday sale, or simply judging people online like Kermit The Frog, I hope this mix is the perfect soundtrack… Thanks again to the guys over at Akute apparel for another great mixtape cover.

The Dance Pit has spent the last year gracefully and diplomatically traversing issues of "personal space, late night hunger, efficient steps to entering and exiting a venue among various other issues" through her Club Etiquette zine. 

On TTM:020 however, grace and diplomacy are put to the side with The Dance Pit delivering a mix which ruthlessly jumps between genre and leaps between tempo with the singular purpose of getting dance floors moving.

"When I started DJing more and getting excited about using sound as the main medium for my work I noticed that there weren’t a lot of local platforms for my work to exist in. So many of my friends were DJing and making really amazing music but didn’t have space to perform. No one cared so we had to make people care somehow. All of my work is about creating diasporic fantasy spaces often through collaboration. I wanted a space where I could be trans, middle eastern, queer and everything else at once instead of one tokenized element of myself which is often the case when queer and trans poc get booked."
