L-VIS 1990 - JUST JAM MIX 2015

After meeting LA native Guy Fridge for the last edition of Functions Of The Now, we move across the Atlantic to hit up Paul Purcell in Dublin, the man behind one of our favourite labels: Glacial Sound. On the cusp of its fifth release, it’s testament to Glacial Sound’s precision that with just a handful of records scattered across the last two years it’s become one of the most essential labels in the current grime landscape. Thus far it’s been home to the EPs that solidified Rabit and Murlo’s respective sounds as well as pushing them to the forefront of the modern grime scene, a white label containing Logos’ most potent dancefloor cuts to date and of course legendary MC Riko Dan’s underground anthem Black Dragons. On his FOTN Purcell has crafted a companion piece to the forthcoming Sharp Veins debut Inbox Island, whilst dropping some hints as to where the label might go next: you'll have to hunt though, as the tracklist is heavily redacted. Milan based producer @nobel has been slaying the European club scene and been on the radar here at Discobelle for a couple of years now with releases on esteemed labels such as No Brainer, Top Billin, Doner Music, Meanbucket, Cocobass and Lucky Beard. We're super excited that he wanted to contribute to our mixtape series.

This raging mix featuring a ton of Nobel original productions starts off with a bubbly bass and soon gives way for all out vibes of futuristic club sounds with swirling, fluorescent synths, dark & grimey bass sounds and chopped up vocals.

Discobelle Mix 082: Nobel

This Saturday Clock Strikes 13 are teaming up with Boxed and Local Action to bring a night of left-field beats and off-kilter electronica to Corsica Studios in London. The night will see a massive line-up that promises sets from Kahn & Neek, DJ Q, Logos, Mr Mitch, Darq E Freaker, Rabit, Deadboy, Oil Gang, Slackk, Finn b2b Grandmixxer, Spooky, Tom Lea, Inkke, Yamaneko. To build up even more hype, Scottish beatsmith Inkke has just turned in this club-destroying mix of dirty south rap, trap and experimental hip-hop. It's everything you could ever hope for from an Inkke mix, balancing his knack for experimentation with hugely palatable club tracks. The night, which span the realms of "bass, house and hip hop through to electronica, techno and myriad hybrid genres in-between," kicks off at 10pm, running right through until 6am. With a line-up that features a rare UK appearance from Rabit and some of the biggest names in UK electronic music, chances are there won't be an event like this for a very, very long time so get your tickets while you can.
