One of the most active projects on the edm scene is definitely the duo of Mariner and Domingo! For some time now, their music has been indispensable for all those who enjoy the sounds of organic house music. This time we have the perfect hybrid, the perfect blend and a fantastic collaboration between the aforementioned duo and an experienced producer, owner of as many as three record labels including The Purr, Jelly For The Babies!
Sophisticated organic sounds, beautiful melodies and lush grooves are mostly part of the song "Two Of Us", but that marimba melody and silk vocals are what are most contagious and leave a striking impression on the first listen.
In order for this release to be completely perfect, we have hired the best of the best in the remixes, so one remix was commissioned by the Greek producer DSF, while the other remix was done by the great Mexican musicians Josta & Balcazar!
All in all, an exceptional and unavoidable release for all fans of quality music!

The Merin EP returns… Renaissance’ eponymous VA series makes its third, and final, showing of 2021 with arguably its strongest line-up yet. As ever, it’s a four track EP that seeks to showcase the most exciting talent on the planet, spread across different genres; variety is very much a key ingredient to the latest edition.

Representing team indie is another young producer from the hotbed that is Israel, Millero. Although he only has a few releases to his name he already counts the likes of Solomun, Âme, Lehar and Hernan Cattaneo amongst his supporters, and has a Beatport Top 10 under his belt. It’s been a stellar start to what promises to be a stellar career. “'French On Acid' is a track with psychedelic acid vibes. It starts with the insane vocals that get you into the mood and then, the acid lead kicks-in. When combined together they hopefully take you to another planet!” - Millero

Electronica and breaks have always been a part of Renaissance musical DNA, so it’s only fitting that two of the scene’s brightest luminaries represent the genre on the EP. Step forward Just Her & Nolan, whose ‘Blue Sky’ is as atmospheric and infectious as it gets, rich with that magic, yet elusive, hairs-on-the-back-of-neck ingredient. “As a track ‘Blue Sky’ didn’t come together all at once,” they admit, “it took a few bites at the studio apple before it ended up at a place we were happy with. Funnily enough, we didn’t add any further production during these sessions, rather re-arrange and strip back. It’s a great example of less becoming more.”

Next is a man who needs little introduction, Jim Rivers. With a CV that includes Global Underground, Bedrock and Intec, he’s a man whose dance roots run deep. His contribution to Merin may surprise many as he sheds his trademark, techno inspired sound in favour of a house-tinged dive. “When I called Renaissance I actually said, ‘I’m not sure this is quite right for you, it’s a deep, chunky 118 BPM thing,’ so I was delighted when they came straight back and said they had just the project to include it on. The riff is warm and simple but it’s got that uplifting vibe with some texture and soul in the synths and arrangement". - Jim Rivers

The quartet is ably completed by a rousing finale courtesy of Russia’s blaktone and ‘ExMachine’, which is a power house slice of melodic techno. Infused with their trademark, futuristic style, the duo describe the track as, “Our musical imagining of a robot suddenly becoming human. For us it’s a very emotional record that combines a tough dance groove with melodic touches.” If this doesn’t have peak time written all over it, what does?!?

Welcoming new collaborative partnerships to the Particles roster is always an exciting opportunity and witnessing the combined talents of Chris Domingo and Eric Lune for their Particles debut is no exception, the duo revealing their "Sentimental Fool" EP.

Talented artists in their own rights, US star, Chris Domingo and Canadian talent, Eric Lune, have found their music allied to some of the finest underground imprints, counting Balkan Connection, Black Hole and Juicebox Music among them. Moreover, both have found homes on Belgian label, Sound Avenue with an impressive array of original and remix production material. Both have also found themselves hitting impressive heights on Proton Music, not least through Eric Lune's "Airbag" EP which saw a remix from Mariner + Domingo. Now joining forces on a debut original track, "Sentimental Fool" sees Domingo + and Eric Lune create a bright and evocative track that revels in shimmering arpeggios and acoustic field recordings that add a subtle vibrancy to proceedings. Anchored by heavy kick and offbeat percussive flair, interwoven melodies filter into sonic range as hypnotic arpeggiated sequences, breathy vocals and multi-layered pads, combine in counterpoint harmony to create a superb original work.

An iconic figure withing the underground dance industry, Pole Folder is a name synonymous with modern progressive house after making a name for himself debuting on John Digweed's Bedrock. A regular on Proton Music since 2006 and, more recently, with a trio of original EPs that include 2020's "Serengeti" and 2021's "Mara", Pole Folder now makes his fifth remix appearance on Particles with a typically impressive reworking. Redolent in additional production material that has become such a trademark feature of the Belgian's work, a new bassline based on the progression from Domingo & Lune's original, casts a magical spell over the 6-minute track as woven sonic textures cascade across each other, opening up post-breakdown underneath a heavy beat and 808 clap to create a remix worthy of the "Full Sentimental Mix" title.

Production moniker of Australian artist, Sam Liburn (aka Sammy Pstump), Slipp. has seen the Tasmanian producer create a distinctive ‘melodic, progressive and psychedelic dance music, inspired by the traditions of techno and house'. Digital Structures, Dreaming Awake and The Next Levelists have all played host to the Slipp. name as he now debuts on Particles with a coruscating and arpeggiated reworking that rises and falls in hypnotic fashion against a rhythmic anchor of deep kick and ticking hi-hat pattern. Echoing the themes resonant in the original to magical effect, new guitar passages and exquisitely syncopated chords pitch and fall in innovative new patterns to create a highly original remix that showcases Slipp.'s range of skill, craftsmanship and technique.

As Domingo + and Eric Lune develop a new relationship, remixes from Pole Folder and Slipp. help to showcase a "Sentimental Fool".

French DJ / Producer Antoine Garcin, otherwise known as Acumen, teams up with Ukrainian electronic duo, Monastetiq. Both Acumen & Monastetiq have had major global recognition and various releases, but they now deliver 'Indie' on Sasha's renowned Last Night On Earth record label.

'Indie' is a track which has a deep, dark, groove with an electronic guitar styled bassline bought to life with atmospheric sounds and textures. The Original is complimented by two remixes from underground stalwart Fairmont, as well as one from Simon Doty.

'Operating out of his Cordoba home at the base of the Sierras Chicas, Sebastian Sellares has been a consistently impressive performer with a string of high-profile releases. A 2018 debut for PHW Elements was soon followed by work for MNL, UV and August 2020's three-track "Cordoba" EP for onedotsixtwo. Inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode and Daft Punk, his music has received support from a raft of high-rollers that include Cid Inc., Aly and Fila, and fellow countryman, Hernan Cattaneo. A Proton Music debut remixing Hot TuneiK's "Circles of You" in June 2019 is now followed by a twin-track debut that opens with the sparkling "Jinsei". Redolent in dynamic percussive rhythms, a similarly cadenced synth line and syncopated bassline provide additional groove before an earworm motif reveals itself. Waxing and waning over the 11-minute magnum opus, counterpoint string phrasing adds subtlety and guile. The rhythmic prowess of "Zen State" is immediately apparent as a sumptuous bassline supplies depth with its gated pattern. Before long, a richly delayed synth line makes an appearance that repeats pre and post-breakdown while an additional free-flowing synth and smooth pad captures a joyous mood.'

Jinsei / Zen State

DOC RECORDS is an independent record label founded in 2013 and operated by Brazilian architect and music producer Gui Boratto. The name is a reference to "Denominazione Di Origine Controllata" or D.O.C., used for certifying all different types of food which follow a set of regulations and come from specific geographical areas. In this case, it's about music that relates to Gui's own sound-like principles: to Gui, more important than style, it is the music itself that and its beauty and harmony that count the most. Thus, the intent to launch quality timeless music, avant-garde, rhetorical and with a well defined and efficient language and expression, regardless of its shell. 

After all, there's only good or bad taste.
