I can honestly say music saved my life from the gangs and drugs living in the rough neighborhood of Little Village.   My brother (Frank Yanez) was mixing before I was.   I need to thank him for turning me on to it.   I spent many hours next door practicing with Tony "Getdown" Gvozden, Frausto "The Snowman", & Miguel Avitia.   My boys from The Stylistic Party Crew!  Shout out to the SPP's.
Soon after, I wanted my own crew of dj's.   I hooked up with "HotMix" Louie (now known as Luis Segura), Steve "The Madmixer" (RIP Steve Estrada) and myself, oh... I was known then as "Smooth Spinning" Johnny.  (You can laugh). We formed a team called Universal Dance Production and then Hypnotic Sounds.  I then  joined Fusion Dance Promotions with Pedro Rodriguez and the Fusion Crew.   
Although we all looked up to the legends from the Hotmix 5, I grew alongside the very talented local dj's like Radical Jesse Mendoza, Miguel Rodriguez, Kike "Housemaster" V., Raphael Ito Garcia, Mike "Dynamite" Mischen, Mario "Live it up" Luna, Danny "The Wild One", Jesse De La Peña, Miguel Martin, Magic Memo, Rick The Ripper, Rich Robalino, Gabriel Rodriguez, Devastating Dennis, Baby O, Double B Rodriguez, Andy Kudelka, Rich Divizio, Smokin' Flame (RIP), Mario "Nonstop" Nieves, Mike "Mixin" Huerta, Tony "Boom Boom" Badea, Pablo "Punkout", Gonzalez,  Adam Rock, Rich Martinez, John "Gee Wiz" Rangel, Bobby Tello, "Cutmaster" Conrad, John Tirado, Hugo Mercado, Victor Salazar, Frank "B Bad"Molina, Notorious Niño, Alberto M, Mario Reyes, Marco Flores, Eddie Ortiz, Dj Jes, Cesar Hernandez (CZR), Gino "Rockin" Romo, Louie "Lollipop" Perez, Out of Control Pete, Diamond Boy Dito, Monster Mix Mike, Arthur the Applejack, Ricky Guerrero, Gus Lopez, Peter "Rock The House"Aparicio, Dj Joe Cool, Gabriel Getdown Garcia, Rick Garcia, Vicious Vic, Victor Lua and Val Rodriguez.  (I'm sure I missed someone).  
I started mixing at the young age of 10 years old.  Mixing these very jams your about to hear on this mix!  To me these are the CLASSICS that I remember listening to on WCYC and WBMX! So I hope you enjoy this one, cause it's a rare one I tell you!  I started my musical career with these and I wanted to end it with them.   Retired but the music still flows through my veins.  Play it loud!!
