"Funfair" is a solo piano piece of the CD "One step closer".

I can still remember very well the first time I pressed down the keys of an old grand piano at the age of 14. Although that piano was not very well tuned, this moment officially marks the beginning of a passionate relationship with this instrument. I never wanted to be a real pianist. I have always been too distracted from practising by my original and never-ending ideas, which I wanted to immediately play on the piano. I have been mainly inspired from The Beatles and their endless well of ideas. Later inspirations include Pat Metheny, classical music and especially Billy Joel. At a certain point I realized that I have quite a collection of my own written materials. Thus the idea of a piano project began to emerge. At the beginning I had thought that I would one day record all the pieces myself at a studio so that a CD could be made. However, as I have written more and more pieces, whose technical difficulties were just too high for my abilities, a new idea began to take form: I began to search for a suitable pianist, who would have the talent and abilites to immerse into my piano music. It was not an easy search; the search for an artist, who could understand both me and my music. Finally, I met Jia Li and together, we completed something that began more than 20 years ago. It might be because we have both left our native countries at the age of 10 and thus developed certain personality traits, or something else - I'm not sure. However, I am certain of one thing, which I have discovered and learned with astonishment during our cooperation: Jia Li had played many parts of my music in a way which I did not think was possible. Her interpretation of many passages had me even more surprised, as it was very much different than my own idea. I left these passages in the way that Jia Li interpreted them, as I think it gives the pieces the meanings that they require.

Erik Satie And Paris Thru The Keyhole

This composition is the final version of the 'first' track of my upcoming piano album. This year I changed the tuning of my virtual piano  (Pianoteq5) from 440Hz  to 432Hz 'A' pitch. This whole new tuning 'thing' also changed me; it 'tuned' me, making me  'feel'  the music in a whole and exciting different way....hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do...
