We are very happy to reveal our latest guest invite: Varuna, a rising artist hailing from the vibrant music scene of Amsterdam, and the latest contributor to the podcast series!

In this 30th podcast mix, Varuna weaves a sonic tapestry of fast-paced rhythms, pumping basslines, tribal influences and immersive atmospheres. It's a journey of emotions, reflecting her personal experiences and feelings, with a carefully curated tracklist that takes listeners through moments of mystery, intensity and uplifting euphoria.

The first FrenzyPodcast will be provided by two brothers from Munich that go by the name of Glaskin. Specialising in their own distinctive take on music, the duo are currently residents at the renowned Blitz Music Club of the same city. Showcasing a high energy sound, combining the past with the present, have led them to releasing on some well-established labels in the scene and having their Berghain-debut last month as part of the Spandau20 label night!

The mix they created for the FrenzyPodcast series has been one full of inspiration drawn from their set at Berghain. It’s a hybrid of vinyl and digital which enables them to connect the past with the present and their own work perfectly. Listen to the sound of Glaskin for FrenzyPodcast 169, enjoy!

Yax is a techno DJ from Adelaide, Australia drawing influence from the likes of artists such as DVS1, Jeff Mills, and Setaoc Mass. His style is continuously evolving throughout the years, but he maintains a focus on deep, groovy, hypnotic, and minimal techno, as he takes inspiration from the 90s and early 00s era, while still adding a modern twist to his sets. 

Whilst maintaining a presence in the underground techno scene in Adelaide, Yax also curates a weekly podcast series called Yax Invites, which began in 2021 with the aim of showcasing talent from around the world with an emphasis on extended techno mixes. My next guest on Yax Invites is Jarrod Yeates.

Jarrod is a Boorloo (Perth) based artist motivated by high energy locked grooves who runs the @dosed-audio label with fellow wax collectors @enerobics and @jacobuntitled as well as long running local night FLUX with @sertechno.  

As a long time listener and obsessive collector, his sound is a strong representation of his affinity with 90s / 2000s vinyl, blending old and new tracks that define that era. Red hot, Mackie driven tribal weapons are the main event here with a healthy contribution of deep, minimalistic FM melters and even a bit of trance.  

‘This mix was done with no set plan in mind, in one take and with only my ears to guide me through which records would mix well. I have a deep love for the human touch that you can hear on vinyl mixes which are becoming increasingly rarer in the digital age. One of my needles was slightly on its way out half way through this mix but that's part of the joys and imperfections of playing on wax’.

For his mix for Miao Music he kept a steady groove of hypnotic techno at a nice rolling fast pace for the listener. It's a sound that he's been attracted to lately as he's been playing more peak hour and closing sets around Adelaide.
