Amateurish stuff about the Silmarillion, no intent to infringe JRRT

Performed by myself in December of 2022 on a Roland FA-08 from memory by ear with no sheet music, as one track with 2 hands.  Original composition, but not monetizing this because I dont wan't New Line or Tolkien Estate to come crush me.
Finrod+Galadriel has to do with the passage in the Silmarillion where Finrod tells Galadriel things are about to go badly.
The following paraphrase:
"Now Finrod Felagund had no wife, and Galadriel asked why this should be."

Which was challenging because the base tune is kind of way shorter than 1 minute which is what DistroKid sets as a minimum.

The Middle Eight of Mach Rider's Main Tune for original 8-bit NES.

Middle 8 is kind of a misnomer it's longer than 8 measures but it's accurate enough as "the part you don't normally hear until you're advanced into something"  As this tune only played if you were at least 8 courses into the game's progression.  When the ruins are replaced by futuristic buildings on the horizon.

Dedicated to all of those who are headed either direction on I-5 into Seattle at around exit 190's ish not really obeying 80 MPH in the left lane.  We know who you are.  A significant fraction of you are humming exactly this portion.

Performed manually without any arpeggiation, from memory.  It's a little glitchy but it's the fondness for it that counts.

Mach Rider Middle Eight

This is the spot in the Last Emperor where Pu Yi's secondary consort walks out into the rain and...never comes back.

The servant gives her an umbrella for the rain and she politely accepts, but a few paces later says she does not need it.  Whether out of gladness to be free, or having gone a little mad, we are left to interpret.

This short sequence is modeled after the in-movie cut with the connecting glissando to change keys in the middle, not the much longer soundtrack version.

Rain / I Want A Divorce (Ryuichi Sakamoto Cover) (The Last Emperor 1987)

This piece covers from the pronouncement of the Doom Of The North up to Fingolfin's actual entry into northern Middle-Earth, mostly going over the crossing of the Helcaraxë by the Noldor who were stranded by Fëanor burning the ships at Losgar and not coming back.

The Track-Art Square is of course messing with people by giving them a southward look at the Grinding Ice that you don't normally see, the route traveled is from the upper right around the U-shape up to the brown (Drengist) at the upper left.

Home Sweet Home (FF5 Town of Lix / Glacier WA theme)

A possible fix of Other Duties As Assigned but it kind of sounds not that different.  Less pounding on the recording levels, anyway.

7-8 11pm: about 90 minutes spent fixing with MIDI offsets in MixCraft 9, my first serious use of the software.  About 2/3 of the timing problems resolved.

It's like a well known quote apparently.

apparently google search says originally it was Robert Orben but I could swear someone else filched the quote and just used it a Playboy magazine interview like mid 80's or so which was where I picked up on it

7-13 9pm: i broke the MIDI file going backwards from Mixcraft 9 to the FA-08 where it has the first measure by itself in pink and then the Studio Set doesn't honor staying with the same instruments. (But it honors the studio set if you start playing it from like any other measure from the first, riddle me that Batman)

And then i had an amusing self-row:

Not On The Cover Of Forbes, Time To Work

Peter tries to tell his son Alexis what the one thing worse than ruling Russia is, in the miniseries.

A risky proposition, doing a Russia-themed track in these times especially.

But I enjoyed the 1986 Peter The Great miniseries and particularly Maximilian Schell's and Vanessa Redgrave's performances in it.

One need really look no deeper than that for meaning.
Although as someone one-sixth Russian on my mother's side, I try in my own poor way to understand things better of course.

Best I could do from memory of the series's music.

07-15-23 08:50PM: made it longer by 1/3 by adding the sad phrases at the beginning from the scene when Peter's mother passes away, and fixed up a phrase in the middle of the main theme (rather clunkily) that was missing.

Ehkahk doesn't get enough love probably.
The fact that he never got the memo about staying in low-energy surrounds might have to do with that.
