The term "artist to watch" gets thrown around a lot these days, especially with the volume of new artists entering the scene with unprecedented access to tracks, information, and technology. Often, however, it's a certain attitude that elevates the true heads above the groundswell of an ocean of new artists, and Connor Wall is unquestionably of this ilk.

Inspired from past, present and future experiences - Connor's creative constancy has allowed him to shape his sound into the organic, weighty, and effective tracks you can hear on labels like Treatment, Float, Phorum and WSNWG.  There is a potent, heart-palpitating sonic representation that accompanies anything Connor does, and part of the reason why he is such an exciting prospect leading into the future. His devotion to a particular sound and approach has driven his ability to grow rapidly since entering the scene just a few years ago, and it is this obsession that will continue to allow him to blossom. He’s an artist to watch by all accounts, and whether it’s DJing or producing, he is emerging as an essential feature of Australia.

The next chapter of our hereandthere podcast series comes from @uvallmusic — the Tbilisi-based DJ and producer Irakli Bregvadze, known for his raw, driving sound rooted in deep, muscular rhythms. Always pushing the edge, he has released on labels such as Semantica, Hayes, FLOAT, Canticle, WSNWG, INGUMA, and OECUS, quickly establishing himself as a respected voice within Georgia’s scene.

Beyond his productions, Uväll is also the co-founder — together with Script — of FACTION, a self-organised party series and label created by a new wave of techno DJs and producers. Rooted in sonic exploration and collective momentum, FACTION has become a platform for emerging artists and a reflection of contemporary techno.

Schimmer Podcast #062 with Franz Jäger

Lisbon-born CRAVO @cravomusic has shaped his sound through study,
community and a steady respect for swing and syncopation.
Trained in audiovisual arts, his first steps in music happened in
2007 through reggae and dub while at Caldas da Rainha.
PeterSmiling and the I’n’High Sound System gave him stages
and a first set of original tracks. In 2010 he turned to techno,
pivoting to a tempo and palette of textures that were once offlimits.

In 2011 he formed -2 [menosdois] with Vasco Guerreiro. The
duo explored the rougher edges of the genre and created small
experiments that were the blueprint for what was to come. That
circle widened in 2017 with HAYES Collective, a platform
CRAVO helped shape alongside his friends VIL, Temudo,
Nørbak, Enkō and Autrane. Together, they built a catalogue
and a following who listen closely and affectionately to its
output, quickly becoming one of Portugal’s leading techno
imprints.

Today, his sets and music releases share a clear internal
thread. Call it a vibe if needed. There is soul and a forward pull
in all of his work and his tracks carry the weight of a broad
musical experience. As a solo artist he focuses on techno and
house lineages that value emotion without losing drive.
CRAVO’s releases are spread across a multitude of labels,
notably on Klockworks, SK_Eleven and HAYES, with new steps
under his label Carícia. Curation is also part of the work. In
2021 he joined Enkō and VIL to start SUMMA, an event series
now regular at Outra Cena in Lisbon. The room’s postapocalyptic
architectural mood sets a frame for forward thinking
techno with hints of the classic school. Slots usually run long,
often three or four hours, and upcoming national artists are
given space to build trust with the crowd. The result feels a little
like a cult, restrained but powerful.

Fuse resident DJ and techno producer Downside is rapidly making a name for himself in the techno scene. He is no newcomer to the Brussels underground, putting out music and organizing parties for more than a decade. 
 
For some historical context, Downside is a Brussels native with Bulgarian roots. Since 2007, he was already out, raving and playing at parties. On his days off, you could find him delving into audio engineering, obsessing over kick drums, compressors, recreating his favourite tracks from scratch. He kept at this for years, and then started organizing his own events in Congres Station of Brussels, and saw some of his original tracks released on German labels. His consistent output and activity led him into the Fuse Club’s family, first as an audio engineer, then as a resident DJ, which puts him right at the heart of the future direction of techno. 
 
In his own sets, Downside combines deep techno and dub timbres with warmth and melody, but with a precise, underground vibe. You’ll hear his own tracks, blended with exactly what the audience needs, a skill perfected by deep experience as a DJ and sound engineer in Belgium’s most legendary club.
 
Those in the know would be wise to keep an eye on Downside.
