Composer/ Sound Editor
Tuğba Uçar is a Turkish composer and teacher. Her works include microtonal and electronic elements. She studied composition master's with Ahmet Altınel at the Mimar Sinan Conservatory in Istanbul and she finished her composition master's under Prof. Dirk D'Ase at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK). Uçar's compositions were performed in the Süreyya Opera, Marmara University of Istanbul, Government Culture Associations Istanbul and MUK. Her composition “Tranquility” was selected by the Wien Modern Ensemble and performed on 09.11.2018. She has written music for a symphony orchestra, named “Seven Structures of Human”, which was selected as one of the winners of the competition “Tratto”, and performed on 11.04.2019 at the Radiokulturhaus by the MUK Orchestra. Other works include her composition “MAYA” for Live Electronic and Ensemble, performed on 27.05.2019 in the MUK and “SEGMENTS” for solo accordion selected for Wien Modern Ensemble in 2019. The video art concept for the Music Theater Festival of WUK was exhibited at the festival between 12.09.2019 and 21.09.2019. Since she is a member of ÖGZM, her work “On the Road” for percussions, fixed media and live electronics will be performed at the concert “Crosstalks” at the Kulturzentrum by the Minoriten in Graz in September 2020.

She has worked as an arranger and sound editor for MEM Music Productions for eight years, together with Turkish composer and arranger Tuğrul Karataş. In cooperation with her musician friends, she founded and conducted the Avrasya Chamber Orchestra, which performed arrangements of Turkish Folk Music. 
The orchestra came under her direction among others, in the Pierre Cardin Art Collection, where she received a certificate of recognition. As a music teacher, she worked at Arsu Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi Istanbul. For her scientific work on the third piano piece from op. 11 by Arnold Schönberg, she was awarded third place at the Department of Music of Marmara University Istanbul.

I am Prof. Dr. Ozan Yarman. I am professionally a Turkish composer, pianist and music theorist. Though educated in Classical Western music, I am intensely engaged in microtonality and maqam theories. I achieved the title of “Doctor of Musicology” in 2008 and “Associate Professor of Musicology and Music Theories” in 2011.

A keystone contribution in the field of musicology is my 79-tone Qanun tuning/temperament model which is capable of satisfactorily representing makamlar on any scale degree.

Aside from my regular commitment to microtonal polyphony and maqam theories, I also contribute extensively to the YARK (Yarman-Arik-Kholmetskii) gravitation theory and related "Yarman's Approach" works spearheaded by my father Prof. Dr. Tolga Yarman.
