Our latest Neon Transmission is a refreshing reminder of the meaning of electro in all its cold, mechanical, cerebral-yet-undeniably funky glory. Veteran DJ and promoter Erkko is clearly no stranger to the genre, having hosted nights with such legends as I-F and Anthony Rother in the snowy depths of Central Fínland as far back as the 90s and remaining an active mainstay in the Finnish underground ever since. Recently, we invited Erkko to play on our Neon live stream from Humboldthain Club and he ended up delivering one of the finest selections of obscure, old-school electro we've heard in a long time.

Nowadays Live and Direct returns after a long hiatus with a 5-hour recording from Carlos Souffront (@csouffront), recorded from 10 am - 3 pm at our Halloween Nonstop party on October 29, 2022. Carlos returns to Nowadays for another Nonstop set this weekend, playing from 3 pm to 6 pm Sunday afternoon.

A regular at Interdimensional Transmissions' No Way Back parties in Detroit and beyond, Carlos Souffront brings a brilliant sense of creative alchemy to the decks, combining years of experience and digging with a sensibility like no other. Abstract rhythms meld together into inexplicable chaos magic. Dark, shadowy selves emerge, ready to be explored with a sense of mischief and playfulness, carried through by an acid bassline or cheeky vocal.

For this extended Halloween set during the real witching hours, Carlos summoned all of the party gremlins, goblins, and ghouls to the Nowadays dancefloor for the ultimate seance.

Schrödinger’s Box Radio is back with another wild show of electronic anomalies, this time with guest mix by IFM legend - Selene!

The assignment: Record a mix with tracks that you’d listen to 100 times.

The result: A mix of machine-age techno and electro to listen to while wandering through the post-apocalyptic streets of Earth.

Selene has been transmitting techno, ambient and electro beats on the airwaves of intergalactic.fm since 2012 — first as the host of The Teahouse on IFM’s beloved ambient channel The Garden, and then on The Dream Machine as the host of Special Circumstances. She’s made multiple appearances at the IFM Festival in the Hague.

Originally schooled in acid house at full moon raves by the Wicked Soundsystem in the San Francisco Bay Area, she moved to New York where she developed her love of techno thanks to events like the legendary New Music Seminar. Any additional free time was spent digging through crates at Temple Records in Soho and throughout various sidewalk sales and flea markets in the city. In addition to IFM, she’s also had the honor of recording guest mixes for Berlin’s Vortex Traks, Chester’s Victrix, Dresden’s Per Musica Ad Astra, the Real Techno mix series and KEXP in Seattle.

Favorite sonic experiences: Plastikman at the Packard Plant, I-f at IFM Fest, Tee Scott at Sound Factory Bar, Robert Hood at Movement, Jeff Mills at Twilo, Jenö at Bonny Doon and Kraftwerk at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
