Ecstatic Dance Journey Holistic Hub AUCKLAND ~ 16 June 2022

Kalani is the birthplace of this wave of Ecstatic Dance as we know it and has held a dance strong for 25+ years. After a year break due to the pandemic, they have reopened for a reunion of the dance tribes of the Big Island and dance tribes around the world, providing an incredible movement church ecstatic dance spiritual journey experience on the dance floor every Sunday. It was an honor to lead the dance journey there this July. My intention was to incorporate music global music reflecting varying emotions to send our prayers, intentions and interconnected spirits around the world. Kalani Ecstatic Dance - Return to the Temple  // Big Island, Hawaii // July 2022

This set was recorded at home a week after BitF 2023, inspired by music I played there at the Mystic Lounge, since I often forget to press record button when I play live :)

The mix contains some of the tracks I played in the Mystic Lounge at BitF 2023 on Friday and Saturday and represents my vision of the Mystic Lounge camp's sound: multicultural, slow, hypnotic, shamanic and mystical, but in the same time groovy and driving.

Mystic Lounge BitF 2023 Curator Mix

So exited to share my closing DJ set at Ecstatic Dance Melbourne's 2023 finale! The diverse crowd and fluid dance styles created a dynamic atmosphere that went from meditation through to full blown cathartic release. My set, spanning various genres, resonated with the engaged audience, blurring the line between tempos and energetic dynamics, leaving an indelible mark on everyone present. It was a transformative and magical conclusion to a year filled with connection and unity.

We begin the practice in a meditative state hence ambient, organic and downtempo sounds proceed the first part of all my Ecstatic Dance mixes at Ecstatic Dance Melbourne until Madhu opens. If necessary you can fast forward to around 50 minutes in to where uptempo beats drop after this and we swing into a dance floor grove elevating, then finding ecstasis or our peak moments together around 1 hour 40 minutes, then ending in sultry solstice prayerful guidance by the wonderful Madhu Honey once again. Enjoy.

DRĖĖĖMY is an Indigenous Egyptian DJ, music producer, vocalist, spoken word poet, meditation guide, multi-instrumentalist, sound designer, arts & culture curator, and community activist pioneering a (r)evolution in "ElectronicDanceMedicine".
 
As a transnational artist, her sound is an organic electronica — an intentional communication of soulful vibration from across the African diaspora intended for intentional dancefloors.

Driving rhythms, earthen basslines, natural atmospheres, forgotten instruments, ancestral voices, tribal invocations — ancient sounds mixed with futurist technologies made for remembering and re-writing our individual and collective myths.
