Mental Podcast

Mørph is a techno DJ & producer born in 1985. His passion for techno was born at about the age of twelve years old when he began to purchase the first records of electronic music. A few years later he took his first steps into the world of club overcoming many difficulties; because the techno movement had not yet matured in its city of origin, except for rare exceptions. During his performances he could already guess his passion in putting the discs taking great music selection never banal or obvious but always looking for something new, different. His musical influences combine dark atmospheres, ambient and experimental sounds purely analog and modular. His artistic career was influenced by artists such as Jeff Mills, Oscar Mulero, Speedy J, Chris Liebing, Robert Hood, Aphex Twin; to name a few, and these pioneers has always been inspired by following the various metamorphoses. In recent years he becomes aware of its potential creating his own musical style that deviates from the techno-called "mainstream" embracing electronic sounds darker, acidic and "dirty" that give vent to pure experimentation. The interest in synthesizers and drum machine led him through the maze of musical production and soon began to create the first traces in his small studio. Since 2010 he has made several albums and EP using different aliases, one of which is DPM (Detroit Pulse Machine) project founded with his friend and colleague Robert Tamascelli. The group's objective is to address the Detroit sound, closer to the origin of Techno. In the current mørph he is collaborating with various artists and labels and expects the release of a new EP that will use for the first time this pseudonym.

Bologna, Italy is the city we travel to for our next Techno Minded Hero. Born in 1985 and discovered his passion for techno at a very young age. He was only 12 years old when he began to purchase his first records of electronic music. It was only a matter of time before he developed the interest in synthesizers and drum machine’s which led him through the maze of musical production.

Biography
Kessell is the alter ego of Valentín Corujo, half of the Exium duo, this is his solo project where he explores the most liquid of his sonic palette. His music has naturally evolved from a hard and minimalist sound to their current style mixing dub, detroit techno, electro, minimal or techno, which has lead to the creation of his label Granulart Recordings, physical/digital label focused on the deepest side of techno with dub influences and classic Detroit sound, designed both to release his own stuff as well as music from artists that fit the philosophy of the label. A label where precision and musicality occur hand in hand with the intention of creating timeless pieces, outside the passage of time, sounds you can enjoy as a delicatessen over the years.

Our next Techno Minded Hero is a true legend. He has been around since the early 90s and has been an inspiration for many others with an well deserved reputation as a "producer's producer".

This DJ/Producer from New York started producing pure, minimalist analogue-minded techno in the vein of early Plastikman and Joey Beltram around the mid 90s. Releasing on labels such as Synewave, Novamute, Probe, Fine Audio Recordings and his very own label Proper NYC. 

And his sample libraries have been featured in many leading publication. Specifically, his Locked Groove series "Proper´s Grooves" was picked by Future Music magazine as one of their all time top 5 sample collections. . In short, his sound is second to none and has been sought out by the best in the industry, time and time again.

Biography 
Producing pure, minimalist analogue-minded techno in the vein of early Plastikman and Joey Beltram (even though his career began as a drummer with the industrial label Wax Trax), Steve Stoll has recorded for Nova Mute, Probe, DJax, Delirium, Synewave and his own Proper NYC label. Raised in Brooklyn, Stoll listened to hip-hop and disco as a child, then joined the Army straight out of high-school. He served for five years, including a period in the Gulf War when he plotted bomb runs by satellite. After being released, Stoll shifted around: he played drums for the industrial group Sister Machine Gun, studied jazz and began recording straight-edged techno for Big Apple labels like 212 Productions and Damon Wild's Synewave.

Stoll debuted for Sm:)e Recordings with the 1995 album Pacemaker. The following year brought another album, Zero Divide (recorded as the Operator) and an EP for Nova Mute (as the Blunted Boy Wonder). After he reverted back to Steve Stoll, Damn Analog Technology followed in 1997 and The Blunted Boy Wonder one year later. He stopped because of parenthood but now picked up the gear again.

Now on the Drone Podcast we are again heading back to Spain, this time Leon to be precise, This Techno Minded hero started spinning techno in 1995 and in 1997 promoting his own event's. Since 2008 he has been releasing on labels like Antirimo, zimmer-records, Geometrika FM Netlabel, Ars Obscurae, Cicuta Netlabel and Ibyat.

Under aliases as Lifeblood or Neural Society, he has presenting different shades of his own unique sound of techno. For the drone podcast he delivered an 1 hour vinyl set on which he will slap you around with raw, static beats with an enormous drive.

Biography

Born in Leon (Spain) in December 1976, started mixing in 1993 even before he discovered what would become his greatest passion: techno..

It was 1995 and was trying to collect the most serious and dark techno records that could find, and that was when joined in a group called Main Dungeon to make techno of the same character that he preferred to mix.

Always involved in less popular movements of the scene, in 1997 left the leading clubs and nightclubs in his town to focus on more serious sounds and acting at raves and alternative events and even promote them.

Years after the dissolution of the group with which he produced, in 2005 started the attempts to make techno alone. In this second stage chooses to go a different direction away from the computer and focus increasingly on machines as tools, at first engaged mainly in live performances and experimentation in the studio for the quest of the techno that passionate him.

In 2008 comes the time to decide to publish his work and releasing first references in digital format and then on vinyl. Recently he has begun to extend his vision of techno releasing music signed under aliases as Lifeblood or Neural Society, presenting different shades of the usual Bran Lanen's techno.

Our next Techno Minded Hero is an italian dj and producer who has been active since the start of the century. While working as a dj, he quickly began to realized that the only way to really expres himself his musicsal ideas is through his own productions.

To pursue such an ambitious goal, in 2005 he entered a key partnership with Paul S-tone, a fellow countryman with releases on Compost Records with the Streetvibes Group, and a fruitful collaboration with the Black Box group.

Thanks to the support of Paul S-Tone, active as a modular synthesizers builder, this national hero has some great releases on his name on which he teams up with many great heroes like Forest People, hans boufmhyre, and alex bau. They released on record labels such as the SYSTEM RECORDINGS, PLUSQUAM RECORDS, MYDUST RECORDS, PEON MUSIC, FUNKATRONIC, CODE2 RECORDS and his own label ANALOGIC SOUND RECORDING

Biography

Christian Bonori is an Italian dj, producer and remixer appreciated on the national club scene. Since his late teens, Christian has always been truly passionate about house and techno music. In 2000, he started his dj career playing in a number of disco clubs in his hometown area.

Later, he played in some of the most respected and well-known clubs in Italy, including: MAGAZZINI GENERALI - Milan, VOX Club, MAFFIA Club,BOLGIA Club with artist like Eric Sneo,Alex Picone,Idris D,Marco Dionigi,Chiara DC,Dj Rame,Steve Mantovani and take a part with Felix Krocher and Axel Karasakis to LOFTAS FESTIVAL in Vilnius.

While working as a dj, Christian quickly realized that he wanted to express his own musical ideas and feelings through electronic music production and engineering. To pursue such an ambitious goal, in 2005 Christian started a partnership with Paul STone, an Italian music producer with releases on Compost Records with the Streetvibes Group and past collaboration with the Black Box group.

Rocco Caine is definitely an art obsessed producer/DJ, who knows, maybe one of the most art oriented in the German electro and techno scene. His passion for all kinds of artistry started to appear very early in his life, with the main interests being painting, sculpture and above all, music!
As a kid, he enjoyed playing different instruments, but soon discovered the power of computer-aided sounds. This discovery changed everything, from there on, his focus was on getting to know the different genres of electronic music, experimenting with new sounds using all his creativity, musicianship and mixing it with a natural sense for trends. It didn't take long for him to find his own path and style, a style unmistakably inspired by the techno sound he loves most.
Never lacking in enthusiasm and perfectionism, he pushed himself to go a step further, deciding to learn about the techniques and technologies that go with the production of sounds and tunes on a professional level. Giving birth to an amazing and absolutely unique mastering technique that from then on will become part of his work, the Rocco Caine sound was born!
The result of that new challenge is clear, every single track manifested by Rocco Caine is recognisable not only by his Cainish style but a clarity and precision that retains the deepness and intensity of his frantic bass lines, whilst still transmitting the heaviness of dub and techno beats!
The sound he created has a constant growing number of fans in front and behind the mixing tables, that has led to really interesting projects with great names of the German and international scene.
DJing has always been a passion for Rocco, utilising 4 decks to fulfill the desire of endless nights of dancing, taking the night owls on an amazing journey through music.
He consistently delivers sonorous effects and experimental rhythmic breaks that melt together with lightness and virtuosity, inviting everyone to an odyssey in the meander of light, sound and darkness.
But above all, what makes Rocco Caine unique is his modesty that he’s never lost over the years… his philosophy is and remains quite effective: Don’t fly too far up, but go as far as you can and if you can even a bit further…!
