For the twenty fifth episode we welcome Jason Szostek aka @b-p-m-f who has been active producing music and as a live act since 1995. Solo as BPMF as well as being 1/3 of the Prototype 909 project and live act.

Also of note alongside John Selway the duo produced seminal electro project Synapse and also   founded the Serotonin label putting out their own music along with releases by diverse acts such as Alex Cortex, Fisherspooner, Autokinetic and Solvent.  I'm very excited to present the first liveset in the series which is a recording of his recent set for Techno-club.net.

Manofstarz has been active DJing and promoting events since the heady 90's previously as Starlite 7 and brings a breadth of knowledge and care with his selections. Digging deep into the archives this mix showcases instrumental hip hop or trip hop as was the stylistic descriptor of the time with some curveballs that fit seamlessly into the mix.

For episode thirty I thought I'd change things up a bit. So far the mix series has been focusing on showcasing DJ's that I enjoy what they are doing at a local level here in Australia along with further abroad too. This is the first mix in the series that I have put together myself the recording from a recent visit to Brisbane Meanjin via a live stream from @QUIVR which is a venue, education facility and livestream location all in one. For the thirty sixth episode we invite @noisecasino to provide the soundtrack, who hails from Bogota, Columbia and currently based in Berlin. The mix is a melting pot of bass influenced breakbeats, rhythms and grooves staring at a steady 100bpm slowly working with the tempo as the mix progresses, keeping it modern and engaging which is a nice refreshing change from the more high octane sets I have come across of late. 


This was recorded at the @delphiciris Records launch party, a new label I co-own which was recorded at @kimchirecordz in Berlin.
An excellent soundtrack that paired well with the informal afternoon summer vibe of the launch and was a standout on the day (as were all of the guests). Im happy to have a chance to review the track list to dig into some of the excellent producers and labels that are new discoveries to me also.

In a moment of serendipity, the original Critical Automator Dub mix was created, then meticulously chopped up and reworked into this alternative version. It combines contrasting textures of blurry and sharp focus, evoking visions of murky seas and lush, hazy skies.

This EP features a high-energy remix by 16 Faces, adding a distinct clattering 160 bpm 808 beatdown to the collection.

“Hexameter” brings together a diverse range of sounds, from machine funk and intricate acid lines to engaging detroit-styled dystopian and alien-like synth scapes. Each track offers a unique auditory experience, inviting listeners to explore new otherworldly sonic territories.

For the thirty sixth episode we invite A7K8 to provide the soundtrack, who hails from Glasgow but now resides in Sydney. 
A7K8 has been a keen clubber and dance music enthusiast who for many years has also been spending time refining his production skills working towards his debut release via the Undercurrents Vol 2 out later this month on bass heavyweight Martyn's 3024 label.

​The mix is a great snapshot of his record collection and influences, which is a nice snapshot (or VHS recording) of the influential mix of techno, hardgroove, dub techno, electro and house that was emerging as fresh, exciting and new dance music experiments at the time.

Here is the recording of my 6ish to 8pm set in the courtyard of the Lord Gladstone Hotel here in Sydney. Summer is in full swing here and I embraced the after work vibe and weather I think. With full GOT Music crew in attendance, collaborating with Electro Mondo for a two room affair, overall it was an excellent vibe with the resident dub siren making a smattering of appearances at various points in the recording. 
The mix includes a bunch of dub experiments, new and old, a fair chunk of b-boy breaks, electronica and classic acid house. I hope you enjoy!

This b2b mix unfolds in 30-minute chunks, blending deep, rounded grooves, otherworldly synths, and lush sunny textures—including a few rare vinyl gems to kick off the year. Drox delivers choice house and Detroit deep cuts, while 16 Faces leans into UK garage, bass, and grimey-tinged flavours.

A soulful, summery ride with just the right amount of grit.

RecThera Podcast 039 - Drox

Happy to present my next guest @drox My first guest from Eora/Sydney. Our connection was forged through the love of similar tastes through Soundcloud. Drox is a DJ, live act and producer whose DJing style can be described as heavily influenced by electro, industrial and bass music. His sound embodies a spontaneous charm that nods to early 90s Detroit machine music, rich IDM sounds, and dystopian sci-fi tones.

Drox describes his approach for this mix the idea  to imagine playing to the tail end of an all nighter — last set of the night or morning when people are winding down. 

He included a bunch of records he'd been slowly collecting together to record a deeper mix like this with some old favourites like Photek, The Connection Machine, Echospace and Basic Channel, some top shelf releases from friends — Albert Chiovenda, Neotex and Simon Mann and a new one from my label by a Berlin based artist Insomanist from the First Light EP that was released this May.

For the forty first episode we invite Jay White, GOT Music alumni back again, he previously put together Episode 41, this time approaching things from a slightly different angle. I really enjoy JAy's mixes, they more often than not take me down a rabbit hole of new labels and producers that I had not come across and this mix is no different.

The mix is Slow Life Initialising, in his words is the process of embracing a lifestyle that emphasises a more intentional and deliberate approach to daily life, focusing on quality over quantity and slowing down to appreciate the present moment.

I  agree that the mix is embodies this concept, I've had a great couple of listens, while busy with my work day and also will full focus and attention on the speakers. I enjoyed the latter much more and encourage you to do the same.

The Nightime Drama label from Australia is launching a new digital only release 'Southern Series', which will showcase music exclusively from Australian artists. Stefano has played at festivals in Europe alongside Alex Smoke, Pan Pot, Audio Werner, Cassy, Portable aka Bodycode, Margaret Dygas, Mark Henning, Jacek Sienkiewicz & Lakuti among others. More recently, since relocating to Sydney he has supported Steve Bicknell and Marco Shuttle.

In this mix he steps away from the dance floor, serving up a mix of old and newer organic soundscapes, flourishes of ambient and almost tribal rhythms digging into the past for something suited for a day of rest or after hours when the ears tire from the electronics and desire something a little different.
