Apartment 54, fifth floor. Sveta is smoking on the open balcony, wrapped in an old puffer jacket. It's the typical timelessness of a weekend day when it's impossible to tell exactly what time it is. Children in snowsuits that make a «whoosh-whoosh» sound while walking are dragging a huge snow tubing somewhere, and a group of red-faced men, drinking on the bench in front of the building, just emptied another bottle of vodka. But Sveta isn't here — she's in Sochi twenty-something years ago. Blond-haired Sasha sees her off at the platform. He arrived ten minutes before departure: his eye is bruised («last night got into a fight with a guy from Tambov, nothing to worry about»), and he's holding flowers, plucked from a flowerbed. He promises to call. But it never happens. Where is he now? And on which balcony would she smoke, if he had called twenty-something years ago? This back-to-school show is curated by Delphine Demord. The first hour is a recording of her set from the Woodblocks Festival 2023, exactly one year ago. Thanks to Kiosk for this beautiful memory. 

For the second hour, she invites Transe Ar Gwez. Baptiste is a micro-festival enthusiast, DJ, producer and music activist in France. He has been co-organizing the Sachô festival for many years. He is offering a mix with tracks that mostly came out this summer, which he listened to during his vacation road trips, along with a few more energetic tracks that he had planned to play at Sachô. (RIP for this year) If you love traditional Breton music, check out his sublime remixes of Roland Becker at Éditentités.

In the ethereal realm of the void there existed The Delphic Iris, a being of otherworldly power and boundless knowledge. The Iris was said to possess the ability to see into the future and hear unique and strange sounds from times and dimensions beyond our grasp. 

Legend has it that with a specific alignment of space and time, and with the mastering of secret ritual practices, The Delphic Iris can be conjured by mortal musicians to ignite and inspire their souls.

History's stark warnings tells us that summoning The Delphic Iris is fraught with danger and risks the possible collapse of our universe, for the Iris is an unstable and powerful being. However, The Delphic Iris' visions are often too tempting to resist much like a Siren's song.  

In recent years, electronic musicians Drox and 16 Faces came across the existence of the Delphic Iris through secret texts found in "the Book of Tidder" and were able to command its power for short periods of time, and so “Delphic Iris Records” was born.

Fortune has been kind to Drox and 16 Faces so far, despite the obvious risks of summoning the entity. We do not know why this is exactly, as the ceremonies are still to this day shrouded in mystery. What we do know is that we too are lucky, because now we can hear a small glimpse of what The Delphic Iris sees.

  It is up for debate as to whether The Delphic Iris’s intentions are good or evil, so listen with caution and may these sounds consume you, for the future of music looks promising, at least for now ….

Drox is an Australian  DJ, live act and producer recently relocated to the Gold Coast / Yugambeh.

His DJing style can be described as heavily influenced by electro, industrial and bass music. 

His sound embodies a spontaneous charm that nods to early 90s Detroit machine music, rich IDM sounds, and dystopian sci-fi tones.
